... he REALLY likes the color of my car, and the wheels REALLY set it off. :)

(this is him using psychology on me to keep me from wanting to get back into a truck)

I absolutely, positively concur with his comments after seeing it in person :AH-HA_wink:

To back up how honest this is, I normally am not a fan of the typical non high trim, SS, etc. Cobalt, and really honestly don't like the Silver Moss color on a lot of vehicles depending on their wheels, trim, etc. (for instance, the way your car used to be stock with the hubcaps...meh), BUT between the chrome package and the hugely better wheels, it looks great. And also unlike what others have said, really not like as much of a baja runner as a stocker 'Balt may seem. A little, but then again even our '08 Malibu looks like it has a lift kit to me after the slight drop of my G8.

So yeah, cool little car and great choice in colors and trim, but you knew that already.

Well shoot, mr. cruiser, I appreciate that. I really didn't post this fishing for compliments, but I thank you for the kind words. Actually, in my family, my frequency of new vehicle purchases has become somewhat a topic of amusement mixed with a bit of concern. I've kept my pickup trucks longer, on average, than my cars. My '94 S-10 I had for nearly 5 years, my '04 Colorado for 3 years almost to the day. Those two trucks I've kept the longest.

i do like the balts When i was ordering parts the other day at the dealer I looked at the dark blue coupe xfe only had floor mats and molding as options I could get it for $197 for 60 months. but i need another car like Michigan needs another lake. I wasn't a fan of the clutch on it. It was sticky and non linear to me. And the wheel covers would have to go. I would go with a little less flashy wheels ;) than yours though. Does your balt have a stick or auto and what do you think of it?

1LT XFE with chrome package. The XFEs are all sticks. I like it fine, it does its job unobtrusively.

I didn't know that about the XFE's.

May I also ask what type of MPG's your getting?

  • Author
Well it pretty much matches the EPA estimates of 25/37. My DIC says I have averaged 22 MPH and 27.3 MPG over 8900 miles, so you can see 95% of my driving is stop-n-go urban. On level highway at 65 MPH, I see 37-38 instant MPG.

You almost have me sold on trading the vibe in.

How is the XFE in handling department? Penn has some good back roads. Blu, have you pushed the cars around the corners?

  • Author
Well it rides and handles much better with the replacement tires than the OE, but this Cobalt is tuned more for a quiet, smooth ride than canyon running. I'm fine with that. I haven't really pushed it in turns too much. I have pushed it in straightaways, though. It has good pep with the manual.
