December 2, 200520 yr Finally a worhty succesor to the great Mopar Black & Blues... http://www.bluesmobile.net/images/Dodge%20Police.jpg God, Mopars from the 60s are sooo weird. Every time I see one it still make me scratch my head. Some are really cool (1959) but others are just bizzare. and WTF is going on here? Are they breaking up an Orgy? This car sure as hell did not deserve to wear a lightbar. But then again the Lumina did not either.
December 2, 200520 yr Yeah, that 1962 model was a sales flop. It and the 62 Plymouth Fury caused Mopar to lose profits then. Some dealers even quit selling them! The designer was fired [or quit], and then the 1965 full sized Moaprs brought back customers.
December 3, 200520 yr I saw truck load of those on highway 401 today, it's good to see the Charger police package. . . . Hopefully we see the Impala next ^_^
December 3, 200520 yr Intrepid crusiers are pretty badass-looking. Its very wasteful to have a V8 Crown Vic or Charger patrol car doing community policing duty, sitting at a construction site a night, or driven by a detective. In those cases, it makes more sense to use a Lumina, V6 Impala, or Intrepid.
December 3, 200520 yr The local police department (suburban, middle-class area) had a mix of Impalas, Crown Victorias and Intrepids. It also has a SWAT vehicle and an emergency management/mass casualty converted motor home which I'm guessing was paid for by DHS grants. I think the Charger is pretty badass looking.
December 3, 200520 yr I live close to Auburn hills; and them bastards are EVERYWHERE. They're getting much better, but I still don't like Mopars.
December 3, 200520 yr Finally a worhty succesor to the great Mopar Black & Blues... [post="51774"][/post] C'mon Sixty, no love for the Diplomat? :P
December 3, 200520 yr The think two of the most laughable police cars I've seen were a Fish generation Taurus and a Plymouth Horizon. There are actually some 92ish Bonneville SSEIEI-OHs around here doing police duty. They're mostly relegated to parking enforcement but by the looks of them, they were once full blown patrol/persuit cars. Almost all of the cop cars around here are Impalas. There are some Intrepids, but I'm seeing less and less Crown Vics. Edit: And I haven't seen Pittsburgh's Plymouth Horizon patrol car in a while, but it was in service as recently as two years ago. December 3, 200520 yr I'm sure I'll probly see them soon in Vestal, NY. Their police force used to be mostly Impalas but I've seen quite a few 05/06 Grand Cherokees and Durangos as police cruisers. Other areas around here are mostly Crown Vics and some cases Tahoes are used (County Sherif and State Police). My local town just got a new Crown Vic with an LED light bar.
December 3, 200520 yr I'm guessing those LED light bars are those clear ones I've been noticing. It sucks because you don't realize it's a cop from far away, you have to pay real close attention.
December 3, 200520 yr A VW can still pass it up hill -Wheres the Caprice GM?- (starts crying) But cops love RWD V8's so it will suit them well i think.
