We know of the Saab Sport Combi.....what does Combi mean in the automotive sense?

"Combi" is used throughout the fast food industry as a gimmicky marketing phrase for 'combination value' meals, usually emcompassing a drink, fries & a burger. "Combi" is also an affectionate pet name farmers give their harvesting combines.

In most parts of the world, Kombi is the generic term for a VW Bus, but a number of European auto manufacturers use the Kombi designation on their station wagon models.

Generally the term refers to something that can be used for a number of uses. In the airline industry, it refers to a mixed freight/passenger aircraft.

When I hear the name I think of the touque and glove maker. Touque: "too" like from "tool" then a "ck" from "kick". It's a Canadian word, and I'm still not sure what you Americans call them - the wool hats that go over your ears for the winter, especially skiing.

I always think of that Men At Work song cuz they say "fried out Combi" in there...

In Slovakian it meant only one thing: Station Wagon, weather 3 or 5 door.
