Collectibles

Featured Replies

Do you have any collectibles? Basically anything that could be worth something... especially as the years go bye. Anything from automobiles to scale models of automobiles or even old articles and stuff like that. If so, share it...

I happen to have a few things. The first is a relatively good looking copy of a Popular Mechanics magazine from 1954. Again, it's in good condition considering its age. I know I have magazines that are less then 10 years old in worse condition than it... :P

I also have another thing that is in damn good condition. It's a Radio Shack remote control Porshe 928. I forgot what year it's from but it hasn't been used... ever. It still has the original batteries that it came with.

The next thing I have are two models that my uncle put together when he was young (in the 60s). His trailer is full of collectibles. Anyways, they're probably not worth anything but they're interesting to check out.

The final thing I have is another thing that my uncle gave me. It's a toy 63 Vette.

I have more, but these are the more interesting things I have. I have a few original Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, some badges off of random vehicles (including the 89 Regal my parents had) :D , as well as some old cameras that another uncle gave to me.

Wow, I love that toy Corvette! I remember seeing those when I was a kid but that was a LONG time ago. :( I collect sales brochures and dealer promo models. My brochure collection takes up a good part of my workroom down in the basement. I've got mainly "domestic" brands from the 1950s up to the present, with some pieces as far back as 1925 (Durant!). I also have a few dealer books, including one for the 1949 Buicks. My oldest promo model is a 1950 Plymouth. I've got some nice GM promo models, including a '63 Olds Starfire, a '69 Grand Prix, a '70 Bonneville convert,'73 Caprice, and several early 1970s Firebirds, Camaros and GTOs. I've collected some matchbooks that the dealerships used to hand out too; mainly AMC and Chrysler from the mid-1960s. My wife thinks I'm completely nuts for collecting this stuff, but on the other hand, she's happy that I don't collect actual cars (though I would if I could!) :P

I don't if this fits, but I plan on cleaning this up and putting in my office after we move to our new house (when I find one).

Hey, I remember this thing. Only goes forward straight and reverse steering one way. I had an Ferrari F40 version without the Rat Shack brand.

Well... again, I wouldn't know as I haven't played with it.

Btw, does anybody admire my gorgeous yellow carpet? :D
I have a small library (500+ books, 2400+ magazines), die cast models (120+), automotive memorabilia, and a couple of cars.
I got tons of old stuff around. I have so many toy cars form when I was a kid and many are still very mint. I find stuff when I look around that I forgot I even had . Those two plastic model might have some value to them take care of them.

Btw, does anybody admire my gorgeous yellow carpet? :D

Haha... I wish it was only a rug. That's the carpet in my bedroom. Been in there since before we moved in (14 years ago). It's also in the upstairs hallways as well as the dining room. Then there's the gorgeous red carpet in the living room... the wool carpet in my parent's bedroom... Yeah... :P

Ahh... the joys of being poor and having an old old old house that used to be my dad's grandparent's house and was built in the mid-late 1800's coal boom of Ramsaytown, PA (the actual Village I live in). :D
I have about 30 Zippos, mostly from the last two decades, but one is from the 60's.
I have had non-auto collections in the past (radios, TVs, typewriters), tho they have all fallen by the wayside. I also have a personal library; books, manuals, magazines, clippings and 4500-some print ads. 2 vintage cars & 1 vintage truck.
