A use for tire shine.

Featured Replies

So I got a replacement plenum for my 3.5 yesterday. The guys at Jack's have been really good about letting me get parts that they forgot or were broken for free.

The only had one though, from a`99 intrepid. This car's hood was opened to the point where it was laying on the windshield, and as such it's been baking in the sun for at least a year (its been there a while). Luckily the plenum looks intact, but the sun has faded the plastic.

Before I put it on the car I figured I'd clean it up and see if I could make it look a little more presentable. Cleaning got the dirt off but did little to actually make it look nicer. Then I remembered I had a can of tire shine kicking around that XP gave me like 2 years ago. Sprayed it on and wiped it off.

Here are the results:

Hopefully it'll be on my car this weekend! :D

Thank! I think...?

Glad to see her coming together.

Got to be sad for you though, seeing the other LH suffer in the yard. Glad she could give up parts to keep yours running.

It's rare to see a non 2.7 LH in the yard, and those that end up there get picked clean pretty quickly by those of us with the "lesser" cars looking to do upgrades.

It is sad to see so many SE's end up there...I just can't fathom why a person would buy it new, then junk it instead of say, swapping an engine in, which costs a lot less than a whole new car.

Most people just see cars as appliances sadly.

I've a few "last gen" Impalas and even an Equinox in the yards I frequent.

Then there's the classics that somehow wind up there.

But their sacrifice will keep mine and others going...and improve them too.

Thank! I think...?

Honestly a great job. I was being funny like some people here think they are while they are not being one.

I'm calling BS Anthony Sullivan! There is no way that worked!

Oh it works, quite well actually. I shot some on the Monte's engine bay and the grime just slid right off.

Yep, tire shine on the engine cover is a must if you're going to spend much time on your car.

Tire shine can also be used on the inside of the wheel wells if black plastic is used there.

Yeah, it's great stuff for making the plastic bits in your engine bay look pretty.

LOL, I do that!

Anyway, this was a better, more permanent solution:
