December 10, 200520 yr As some know, I've been out of work with no pay for 7 business days due to abdominal pain that started with a trip to the ER Thursday, December 1. Given this morning's events, I figured I'd fill you all in...& give some other news as well.... That other news being the death of my grandfather, Virgil Weimer, this morning (Friday, December 9, 2005) in Mt Morris IL. After Thanksgiving, he had increasingly refused to eat. So, it was not a big surprise...but, still isn't easy. Unlike with my grandmother just over 3 years ago, we had no "advanced warning" from him; he died soon after he woke up this morning. Like with my grandmother, however, the minute the phone rang ... I knew. As for me, I kept my appointment with the gastroencologist this afternoon ... & still do not have any answers. I am back on a "solid" diet (luckily), but now have to go through more bloodwork & see a surgeon for another evaluation/opinion. The gastroencologist believes I have a minor case of Acid Reflux. The prior tests (Xrays, CT Scan, Ultrasound on pancreas & gallbladder, hidascan) show "gunk" in the gallbladder with a few small stones, but not "big enough" to cause the type of pain I've been experiencing lately. The focus right now, according to the gastroencologist, is the liver & gallbladder. *shrugs* And life goes on..... December 10, 200520 yr (((Cort))) Please accept my condolences on the loss of your grandfather. You are one of our most steady, optimistic members, through it all. My hat is off to you, sir. ^_^
December 10, 200520 yr Sorry to hear about your loss. I wish you good health. If it does turn out to be your gual bladder & if it's any consolation; my wife had her gaul bladder removed a couple of years back & my co-worker had it done about 10 days ago. It's basically outpatient surgery. According to both, the gas they use to blow up your stomach causes you more discomfort a couple of days later then the surgery does.
December 11, 200520 yr Author Thank you all 3 of you for your kind words and thoughts/prayers. Definitely appreciated. Heh...ocnblu...your kind comment blew me away....thank you. cmatteson, I realize it is outpatient surgery for the gallbladder. However, given my heart history, my PCP isn't convinced that it will be simple outpatient surgery for me. This is why he wanted me to see the specialist...to rule out other possibilities first because he (my PCP) would rather I avoid surgery if possible....
