The R8 pictures will probably be another week or so. I have too much sifting to do to slim the set down to a reasonable number.

It wasn't portrayed too favorably in the opening sequence to "Beverly Hills Cop" (the first one, 1984).

All I can think of is the armies of architects and engineers that had to draw up these intricate masonry buildings and plan grand boulevards, only for them to be part of a forgotten wasteland. And no insult to those of you who live in its suburbs -- I have seen some of the nice suburbs outside of the Detroit city limits.

Isn't that the building that Michael Bay likes to include in his movies? (The Island, Transformers, etc.)

Yes. It's Michigan Central Station in downtown.

Amazing work. There is a sort of harrowing quality to these photographs. You are seeing a once mighty city that is now no more than a former shell of itself. The fourth image in the set illustrates it so well; it almost makes you think of the ruins of Chernobyl/Pripyat, Ukraine rather than a landmark city in America.

Any art that elicits some emotional response is good art. These do it.

The black and white photos look like photos from a war. Great, if depressing stuff.

And too few on our side have their hearts in it.

Very well put, 'blu.

My GF keeps wanting to move to Detroit and try to start a great revitalization.

She seems to think that better days are right around the corner for the city.

I however believe that it's a lost cause for it's seems that even God hates Detroit.

Like with most of my opinions and predictions, I pray that I'm wrong.
