What is so exciting about The OC, Laguna Beach, Real World, etc? Why do these kids base their lives around them?

Because they're losers.
Although the stars are all so so beautiful, I am sick of all the teenage angst shows out there. "OH, boo hoo, I am rich and beautiful but my life sucks..." Smallville is another one..all the beautiful people with horrible relationships.

Seriously! Are we, as a teenage population, that dull and emo that we have to watch OTHER PEOPLES' lives to see that ours aren't all that bad? Seriously, why do we make drama such a factor in our lives? We all say we hate it, but we revolve our lives around it! lol Oh, ha, I just noticed this is my 10000000000th post. In NOS terms, that's 1000. :)

haha, I never got that smilie until you just posted it..
Laguna Beach is a guilty pleasure. I find it to be better than the Real World mainly because the production quality is so much better.

Care to elaborate on what intrigues you about it?
Good looking people are interesting, though it's a shame the majority of the girls look and act alike. I'm a reality tv kind of person, I guess, overall. I like seeing how other people live their lives, the situations their in, what they do in comparison to what I would have done, etc. I thought it was pretty hot one of the girls on Laguna Beach had a maid who served her food.
I like the O.C. because it's not your typical formulaic TV. Most shows about teens, it's pretty clear whos going to be together, and they may break up but they never have any other relationships. The O.C. breaks out of this mould and weaves a whole web of relationships, without going over the top and becoming a soap opera.
hmm dont like laguna never seen OC dont like real world though some of the people are pretty cool but all the people ive seen are idiots so i dont like watching any CSI is sooo much better
CSI is a good show, but too depressing. I don't watch it for the same reasons I don't watch cop shows, courtroom shows, or things like Springer. Just too much negative drama.
yah i guess but the focus is on the puzzle instead of drama so i ignore it cant ignore drama in a show about drama
What I watch: Simpsons Family Guy American Dad King of the Hill WWE Raw Assorted Speed Channel goodies SpikeTV Powerblock that's it. I can't comment on any other shows, because I just don't care enough B)

All I watch is.. A sitcom once in a GREAT while (King of Queens, re-runs, and According to Jim) Short clips of WWE when my dad is watching it and I run thru the room lol Red Wings hockey
So sue me, but I moved on to Law & Order, like, ten years ago. I nerded early...
The only shows I watch regularly are House, 24, Family Guy, and South Park. Of course I have to watch the Patriots and Red Sox too.
CSI=good stuff, although I only watch it once in a great while. If I'm home, I'll turn on one of the reruns on Spike, I haven't seen any of the new season. As for the other crap that this thread was originally about, if I wanted to spend time with whiny rich kids/drama queens, I'd just go round up a bunch of the people I went to high school with. It was stupid, petty annoying crap then, having it on tv doesn't make it any different.

lol yeah
Desperate Housewives (eva, Eva, EVA), Amazing Race, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Commander in Chief and Fox News Channel are what I primarily watch.
Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me are the primary shows I watch that are still running new episodes. I'm a bit of a Star Trek (TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT) fan so I'll occasionally watch re-runs of those. I'll watch the ocasional Family Guy, Simpsons, and South Park too.

LMFAO! I was watching Jerry Springer the other day. It's always a riot. Is it still filmed? I want to get in the audience.

We (well, I) call that "emo". Which makes me sick to my damn stomach. :puke:

Has anyone here watched "The Ref"? Well, I relate a bit to the character which played Leary's partner in that movie (the character's name was Murray, I think) in the sense that I still can't understand why they took Beavis & Butt-Head off the air. Sure it was popular like the Real World and crap like that when it was on the air, but at least you could laugh at the brainless crap Buff-Code and Beaver did every now and then. And, plus, if it wasn't for a certain Mr. Anderson, we wouldn't really have a certain Hank Hill as a result. It was damn stupid, but at least it was entertaining and certainly better than this damn Real World bull that we have to put up with.

I think you should go all Sex and the City with that one and ponder it with your 3 best friends.
On the Mainland, it is America's Surf Industry capital, similar to the Silicon Valley. Which is why I think I might go to school there... lol, don't know though, it's the O.C., SanFran, LA, or Diego. But Laguna Beach is darn pretty... lol.
Thought this was appropriate for this thread, and that Satty might like it. Lyrics to System Of A Down's "Violent Pornography": Everybody, everybody, everybody livin' now. Haha... System of a Down rules! :D
I thought Fox News was created by Comedy Central so Jon Stewart always had someone to make fun of.
