I've been cutting the tall grass in the fields around my place over the last few days, and the stinging insect population is excessive this year. Today I got stung int my right lower eyelid, painful to say the least.

That's almost as bad as two friends of mine from high school. they were waiting to ahve sex until they got married...it was going to be a "white wedding night" so to speak.

Guy is wearing shorts and gets stung by a bee on the nuts...while on the way to the hotel... privates swell up and they have to wait like two or three more weeks. They had been dating for about 3 years.

She was also VERY unhappy about that turn of events!

Sorry to hear about the bites!

I guess it could be worse!

Camino, sorry about that stinging eye, but dude, I think you were just checkmated by 66.:o

True enough, Ocn.

Oddly, it doesn't ease the pain though.

I can't say that I recommend either experience.

Maybe if you get stung on the nuts your eye won't seem to hurt so bad?

Seriously, I hate any eye injury. A few years ago I got a piece of fibergalss insulation in my eye on a construction site. Ended up in the emergency room...they said if I ahd waited another 3-4 hours to come in I would have lost vision in that eye.

Very scary when it happens to your eyes.

Very true.

I refer to my eyes as "dirt magnets" since every little pice of grit seems to be aimed at them.

Once got a sliver of steel in an eye (my only ER visit ever).

Wasn't a good thing.

Damn but this hurts!

Even moreso when I try to close the eye - sleeping might be a challenge.

Wow with these stinging stories I don't know if it is safe outside anymore. Sorry to hear of this and hope it heals soon.

If you have it, take some Benadryl. It should temper the swelling a bit and make you drowsy enough not to care about the pain.

I just about fell out of my chair after reading that....

Happened to a buddy before senior prom....

Ever see the movie "Election" with Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon? Matthew's character gets his eyelid stung by a bee and it's nasty looking!! (sorry, couldn't find an image from the movie to post) Camino - sorry dude to read about your dilemma. I've been dealing with severe right knee pain since Thursday - orthopedic doctor says it's likely a torn meniscus. Until I can get an MRI done on the knee to examine the extent of the damage, I have anti-inflammatory pills and pain pills (percocet/oxycodone) to use; however, sleeping is not the easiest thing to do with such pain. Best of luck for a speedy recovery.

It will help...

Yesterday was my accident day..walking into the post office w/ a stack of boxes, I stepped into a curb cut that I didn't see and went down. hard. skinned both knees, hitting the left one hard, big bruise, skinned my right elbow, and hit my head on a wall. Been popping Aleves since then.

My knee has been hurting since Friday....bashed into my kid's bedroom door.

Getting better though. No pain killers suck.

Ugh, my second night in a row without sleep. My neck/left shoulder are in pain (from what I have no clue) and I cannot find a restful position... so I turn this way and that. Yawn.

time for alcohol? Numb it a little?

I work hard phsyically and a good beer or wine will really relax me.

I would second the alcohol thing.
