Interesting rendering's. Maybe we'll get a teaser at the NAIAS? Thoughts anyone?

Even though I've never been a big Supra fan (and even less now that it's on the tip of every ricer's tongue), Toyota needs another sport coupe if it wants to keep its edge as a brand. Go to a Toyota board and you'll see that one of the big complaints is that Toyota is focusing so much on family sedans that they've let everything sporty they had wither on the vine. Ford has the Mustang and GT, Chevy has the Corvette (and soon, Camaro), Dodge has the Viper and Charger (and soon, Challenger), and Toyota has the.... Avalon? Camry? Corolla? All FWD family cars with soft suspensions. Toyota gets ripped on all the time for being bland because they have no exciting, heart-pumping cars. Supra - dead after 2002 model year Celica - reduced to secretary-special, dead after 2005 MR2 - killed in 2005 The brand is so lacking in the sport department that I've seen some owners comment on their Camry as if it was a hot rod... :rolleyes:

Most of those are bland and dated... so I guess they'd make a great Toyota. I hope a RWD Supra returns soon but I'll never buy one.

Maybe its just me, but all of those are just awful.

I tend to agree Fly, my toast I was eating nearly came up. Toyota's styling is just so damn lame.

I would love for there to be a new somewhat affordable Supra. There is a market for $40K sports cars, above the 300Z but below the Corvette, and sportier than the Infiniti G35 Coupe. But I don't care for any of these renderings. The red one on top is perhaps the best of a lackluster bunch, but it comes across as being derivative of the 300Z.

If having a bass mouth grille and mirrors on the doors is French then I'm the next big thing.

Add that fishmouth grille to the odd proportions and the overall feel that the designers were trying too hard to be different, and yeah, it does look like a French design. Or a 4th-Gen Camaro.

First, it's "Toyota's are so boring." Then, it's "Toyota is trying too hard to be different."

These are artists' renderings, dude. Toyota isn't trying anything with them. If anything, it's just hopeful fans trying too hard to inject styling where there is none.

That'a what Scion is for. I'm not saying I agree with it, but uf yiu never knew, the Celica was replaced by the tC.

see, when toyota TRIES to design osmething interesting they fail. thats the difference. Otherwise they are boring. They very rarely ever actually get styling right. the 90's MR2 was a great design, as was the old Corolla, but lately they just havent got it together.

Toyota needs to bring back the Celica, Supra, and possibly the MR2. They were all great cars back in their day, and there IS a market for them. A Supra with the 3GR V6 would be great.

Widen that... It's the Camaro of most sportscar fans.

I actually don't mind the red one.. but it depends on how much they are planning on asking for it $$ wise. Should be competitive with 350z etc.
