I wish they would have taken some cues from the 1971 Imperial with the fuselage style body. The "fuselage" Chryslers had a flowing, sleek design that would be a nice change in direction from the blocky 300.

Umm, yikes yo say the least. I suppose if the detailing could be worked out, then maybe this could do it, but as that Motor Trend issue shows it, it's rather offensive.

With some tweeks to the style and a better color I think Chrysler has another winner.

The long wheelbase A8 is 121 in. and its overall length is 204 in .  If the specs we have so far are correct, the Imperial, at 123 in wheelbase and overall length of 214 in. has it beat.

Thats good. Mayb its just the picture that makes it look short. Now do a lil tweekin on the styling and I'd buy one.

Out of the box, this car doesn't look as 'luxury' as the Cadillac Sixteen (still one of my all time favorite concepts), but it is a car that would make people look twice at it. They could give it some more chrome accents and I wouldn't be upset if they did something different with the headlights.

If Chrysler's not careful, Imperial will sue:

Part of the tallness is due to the 22 inch wheels, no doubt...the tallness, rounded body form, reminds me of an early 50s Chrysler (which were very staid in their day) blended with door handles and side windows of the Rolls Royce Phantom...

No they don't. Cadillac shouldn't rely on gimmicky styling to get BMW, Lexus, Audi, and Mercedes owners to enter their showrooms. They should keep relying on A&S and improving driving dynamics. Besides, the A&S theme is basically considered a modern interpretation of Cadillac's styling from the 50s anyway so mission accomplished.

LOVE it...might get Caddy to resurrect the Fleetwood to keep in the Town Car/Imperial game! Seriously...those measurements are sweet...I don't have the article in front of me but wheelbase of 123 or so, overall lenth over 214..."LOVIN' IT"! Plus, as noted, suicide doors and pillarless. I don't mind the height because I know that will tranlate into awesome interior comfort. BTW, the Challenger in the same issue is WHAT GM SHOLD HAVE BEEN DOING these last 18 months for the Camaro. Again, with the "new" retro mustang and the "new' retro Challenger, mabye Gm will finally feel compelled to compete with a resurrected Camaro. Sigh...always chasing and never leading recently.

Chrysler is going down I tell you, going down. They had an awesome year of sales, but their streak is over. Between this, the challenger and the direction Jeep is going, they will soon plumett. 2007 is the year that will change all for the auto industry.
