I got a $50 iTunes gift certificate for Christmas, and I downloaded a song the other night. Trouble is, my Pocket PC doesn't support the iTunes protected M4P format (naturally). Nor will the 20GB Creative Zen Touch that I'm about to buy from my sister for half price. Does anyone know of any good, preferrably free M4P to MP3 converters that'll cause me little to no grief in getting the iTunes songs onto my player(s)? I've been Googling this for a couple of days, and it doesnt seem to be an exact science. I know I can burn a CD in itunes and re-rip ino MP3/WMA format, but I'll only do that as a last resort. I also refuse to overpay for an iPod. TIA.
I have no clue. I'm not an iPod fan and have never used iTunes. I have an iRiver MP3 and don't use it much, especially after I got Sirius. I'm much more of a CD person, just like I'd rather have real professionally printed pictures instead of having a digital camera to print crappy photos off of the printer in your family room.
I've heard you can burn the iTunes protected song onto a CD and then re-rip it back onto the computer in MP3 format. I've never tried it before, so I don't know if it would actually remove the protection or not.
Programs like Podutil and JHymn convert M4P files to MP3 files. My sister was using it with her old MP3 player before she got an iPod this past christmas. The programs are free though with PodUtil, it keeps bothering you to sign up for a paid membership. It's unfair that iTunes is only compatable with apple products but that's how they get you to buy their stuff. I suggest you google converting M4P files to MP3 files and see what works for you. I just got a $50 itunes card too. I'm already down to $37 in just 4 days. I love my mini though. I don't need to upgrade to the nano because mine fits my needs perfectly. If you're on the fence weither or not to switch over to apple, I'd strongly support the switch. It's just that much nicer.
