October 12, 200916 yr My dad is going to sell either the Sunfire or the Corsica. I get to choose which since the remaining one will become mine. I am having a tough time deciding. 1996 Corsica 2.2L 2200, automatic 77,191 mi. Pros: It's more or less well sorted out Lower mileage Nicer sounding radio (with tape player!) Better reliability reputation as far as I can tell Cons: Horn not working for some reason ABS no worky A/C is shot Possibly doesn't like to start in very cold temperatures It's boring to look at, boring to be in, and boring to drive Cramped rear seats 2000 Sunfire coupe 2.2L 2200, 5-speed manual 94,633 mi. Pros: I like the styling 20x more Manual transmission Less boring to drive Actually has more legroom all around than the Corsica My friends think it's a "sports car" Air Conditioning works Cons: J-body reputation (even though we've had no major problems with it so far) Higher mileage Starting to rust in some spots Laundry list including: radio display backlight needs fixed, rear defroster needs fixed, brakes need replaced, new front fender needs put on I really would rather drive the Sunfire any day; I just plain like it more, it makes my long daily commute less boring, it's easier for me to concentrate on driving in it. The Corsica has been/is rock solid, except when it wouldn't start for a spate last winter. At that point the Sunfire came through, and it hasn't had any major problems that have kept it from running in the nearly ten years we've had it either. But I worry about the horror stories I hear about every other J-body car on the planet. Also I am wondering which will be worth more. Both have been in accidents (at my hands); we've fixed the Corsica's bumper, and we plan on fixing the Sunfire's biggies before making a decision. What are y'alls thoughts?
October 12, 200916 yr I don't care for J-Bodies, but if the Sunfire has been good so far, a/c is important to you, and you just plain like the car more, I would keep that and try to find the Corsica a good home.
October 12, 200916 yr Sunfire! Sounds/looks more fun! I would choose the Corsica, but only if it were a V6. Then I would proceed to make a Beretta sedan! PICS?
October 12, 200916 yr In this case, the rational decision is the Sunfire. Although it has more miles, believe me, you'll love the five-speed once you know your way around it. It sounds like a fun car. You'd be crazy not to keep it until you can buy a better car. No deserves the unrelenting punishment of driving a Corsica, one of the most sterile sedans on the planet. They have the panache of a trailer park grandma who has 20-something cats. A Camry looks like Mick Jagger in comparison.
October 12, 200916 yr Sunfire 4 years newer. Sounds like the problems it does have are easier to fix too.
October 12, 200916 yr The Sunfire's radio is an easy fix. Wallyworld has a $130 dollar Pioneer receiver with direct iPod integration for $130 and trust me, you'll want someplace to plug an iPod into. Sounds good too (it'll sound like a top-notch Alpine system if you think the Corsica's audio system sounds good). I had one in the Firebird which I swapped out to the Monte. Best inexpensive receiver I've ever bought. Edited October 12, 200916 yr by whiteknight
October 12, 200916 yr Sunfire FTW guy! I'll take three pedals to two any day. And as someone said, it's issues aren't that hard to fix. Brakes, Radio, etc...yhou should be able to do yourself. Chris
October 12, 200916 yr I might have been inclined to say Corsica, if it were a better Corsica. The manual wins!

October 12, 200916 yr Sunfire, hands down. The 5spd. will be way more fun to drive, and faster than the Chevy.
October 13, 200916 yr So it seems this girl has won: She's got a mildly cute face but your friends will make fun of her for being so plump. No matter, she makes you happy and can show you a fun time. Who knows? Maybe you can slip some diet pills in her Mickey Ds and she'll slim down. Someday. Knowing how these relationships go, though, you'll eventually get tired of working your way around the teasing and - ahem! - other things and go for a girl who didn't gorge so much at Kountry Kitchen. And this old bag has rightfully lost: Do I really have to go there? Seriously? I don't want to but I will. Edited October 13, 200916 yr by whiteknight
