butt. I'm in serious need of a new chair for my time at the computer, my current chair is 12 years old and is very "tired".

The problem is I haven't the faintest idea of what to get or what manufacturer makes the best chairs. So I need some imput and suggestions preferably with pictures.

The criteria:

must be black

Material isn't a major issue

Must have very thick padding/cushioning

Lumbar support

Headrest

Recline ( by handle or lever) I don't like seatbacks that move with you

Good leg support and perhaps even an extended seat cushion for extra thigh support

Be able to support 300 lbs+ ( I weigh about 260, 270 but I like to know my chair is strong)

Reasonable price.

I'm hoping to spend 200 or less if possible, but am willing to consider more expensive chairs for the sake of this thread and seeing what's out there.

So can anyone make any suggestions based on your own chairs you sit in at home or work while on your computer?

In 98 or 99, the firm I was working for got new chairs. The bastard owner was going to go on the cheap, but we ended up with $300 dollar chairs because some of us did the "you must be kidding" routine. Don't remember the manufacturer, or I'd tell you, but they more than paid for themselves in terms of comfort and increased productivity.

So, my advice, if it goes over your price point by a little bit and you like the chair, buy the chair.

Our office uses those Aeron chairs...for being some of the most comfortable chairs (supposedly) I am not impressed.

Just like you would test drive a car before buying, go test out some chairs. Get whatever feels comfortable to you, not what someone else tells you is comfortable.
