January 8, 200620 yr Hoping insiders can give me a bit of clarification. The current GMT201 MiniVans were supposed to be replaced by GMT962 about 2009. With all of GM's cancellations and delays I have heard GMT962 got replaced by GMT511. Can the insiders confirm or deny this and if its alive has it been delayed (to when?) Is it still going to be on the Lambda platform? Thanks
January 8, 200620 yr Lambda it is. I read that the vans will look like "space ships" ... whatever that means. Then I read that the vans are not going to be produced in favor of the new Crossovers in a recent Motortrend (their information is questionable)
January 10, 200620 yr Lambda it is. I read that the vans will look like "space ships" ... whatever that means. Then I read that the vans are not going to be produced in favor of the new Crossovers in a recent Motortrend (their information is questionable) yeah they are going to do a retro of the 90's APV dustbuster minivans!!! early April fools joke!! if the new minivans are produced only the Chevrolet and Saturn will survive.. Buick and pontiac wont get versions..
January 13, 200620 yr Last news was just Chevrolet and GMC will get versions. So I am guessing that these will be much less minivan-esque and more GMT360 replacements with sliding doors.
January 13, 200620 yr So I am guessing that these will be much less minivan-esque and more GMT360 replacements with sliding doors. no. they will be of lamba and look more like the crossovers with sliding doors. and GMC will get one so that the P-B-G dealers have a minivan to sell.
January 13, 200620 yr Professional grade minivan? I guess flower delivery services will latch on to those.
January 13, 200620 yr Probably GMC —— instead of Montana and GMC —— Denali instead of Terraza. To some extent the Lambdas (both crossovers and minivans) will replace the lwb GMT 370s as well as the CSVs, possibly in more ways than you imagine. I don't think 91z4me was implying the new minivans were GMT 360s with sliding doors.
January 13, 200620 yr I don't think 91z4me was implying the new minivans were GMT 360s with sliding doors. Right I was trying to say that they would be more SUV like than minivan like. Kinda like a SUV with sliding doors, but still based on Lambda obviously. Edited January 13, 200620 yr by 91z4me
January 16, 200620 yr I swear I read a quote from Lutz on here not too long ago, saying something to the effect of, "Judge me after you see my minivans."
January 16, 200620 yr GM changed it's mind, they want to create world class minivans instead of abadoning the segment and hiding behind SUVs. They need a world class minivan. They've needed one for the past 25 years. I don't see how they could not offer a minivan when even the little guys like Kia have one now.
January 17, 200620 yr I am GUESSING hat the lambda architecture is too expensive to aim other than high. Insider comments? Any one?
January 17, 200620 yr Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Right now, I'm anxious to see how the new Chrysler ones turn out: http://www.allpar.com/model/m/2008-minivans.html Styling wise, it doesn't look like they've done anything that rad, but if they get things like making the Stow N' Go seats actually be comfortable, and actually use some nice interior materials and design, not to mention upgraded mechanicals, they could be VERY good.
