Wii shortage

Featured Replies

So we went to do a little Christmas shopping, and needed a couple of Wii's (is that the correct pluralization?) and it turns out they're still a bitch to hunt down. Best Buy had none, Target had none, the smaller, independant places just laughed at me. Special mention goes to Sears/K-Mart because they have layaway, so according to the sales guy they haven't had any on shelves in weeks. After giving in and going to Gamestop, the search was over, walked in, got two, walked out. But I thought the whole Wii shortage thing was over.

I figured the shortage would have been over too, given that it isn't too much more for an Xbox which has games. :P

X-Box is lame. Besides, one is for my kid the other is for my parents, so nobody is going to be playing Halo.

halo= good, but way overhyped game. i'm not a fan.

I think they've only been maintaining a certain stock level in stores, like less than 5 per store and they're only restocked like once a week. So, as we approach holidays, you get more than 5 people who shop at a store that want one, they run out. I got one a while back, still not sure I think it was a good buy. I'm not unhappy with it at all, we just don't use it as much as we should. But, we bought it & a Wii Fit with the thought of wanting a way to get exercise that didn't depend on the weather, and that if we didn't stick with the exercise wouldn't be a worthless space taking object like a treadmill, etc. We've used it a fair amount for exercise, but not as much as we should. It's also good for some other occasional gaming, and to keep kids occupied when we have friends over that have kids.

You can't give away a Wii here. When it first came out and was the cheapest NG console, you couldn't keep one on a shelf. Now with the price drops in the 360 and PS3, which actually have real games, the Wii just collects dust.
