November 25, 200916 yr I'm going to have to make the buy of a lifetime. I have to find the best possible deal on a plow truck, and the budget will be tight. I don't know exactly what I'm going to have to work with yet, but regardless of cost I need to "buy well". So, if something crosses your path, please let me know. And wish me luck. Here are two examples of what I'll be looking for generally. Unfortunately both will be gone by the time I'm ready, and are likely budget busters. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-Chevy-3500-Pickup-7-4-liter-Boss-Snow-Plow-2500_W0QQitemZ320452465087QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item4a9c7491bf http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy-2003-2500HD-4x4-Pick-up-w-snow-plow_W0QQitemZ110461150221QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item19b7ff640d Edited November 26, 200916 yr by Camino LS6
November 26, 200916 yr Have you thought about putting the Mothertruck back together and hooking up a plow for it? It could be your cheapest option.
November 26, 200916 yr Author Have you thought about putting the Mothertruck back together and hooking up a plow for it? It could be your cheapest option. Mothertruck is waaayy too long to plow with, and a cheapy plow truck would cost less than finishing it. I have considered going over the mechanics of the Blazer and hanging a blade on that. But there has been a ton of interest in it, so it will probably sell shortly.
November 26, 200916 yr Author I was in total lust over this, but it's gone now: http://clients.automanager.com/014152/VD.html?VID=30d3eb8575f24f898a93b88148ac7c47
November 26, 200916 yr Why not just mount a plow on your Blazer then, rather than buying what is basically a GMC version of what you own now? Seems silly to me. Unless the GMC has a better engine and is better suited to it.
November 26, 200916 yr What about an older F150 or Ram? I saw a decent deal on a ford a few days ago...
November 26, 200916 yr Author Why not just mount a plow on your Blazer then, rather than buying what is basically a GMC version of what you own now? Seems silly to me. Unless the GMC has a better engine and is better suited to it. The GMC had less than half the miles, was five years newer, already had the plow, looks fantastic, and has barn doors. Other than that, not much.
November 26, 200916 yr Author What about an older F150 or Ram? I saw a decent deal on a ford a few days ago... If the right one came along, maybe. If I go the pickup route, I'd rather get my hands on a 3/4 ton so I can still use my trailer.
November 26, 200916 yr Here are some results local to me. I found this 2000 Silverado in need of a new ECU and everything to plow snow with for $2500 (just a thought): http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/1482647942.html I also found this Dodge Ram and snow plow combo for $6000: http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/1475397694.html Here's a '94 'Burb for $4900 with an electric snow plow package: http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/1448325727.html 1989 Silverado, rusty, can be sold with plow: http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/1451920011.html 1989 Sierra, doesn't seem to be rusty, sold with plow: http://lexington.craigslist.org/ctd/1475500245.html Looked around PA while I was at it: 1986 F-350 with plow and spreader: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/1482410761.html '98 Ram, awesome if you love dents, plow, $3800: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/1474632495.html '89 Silverado, plow, seems to be decent, $3500: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/1469363706.html '85 Silverado, awesome if you love absurd graphics, under $3k: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/1475848668.html
November 26, 200916 yr Author Some interesting stuff among those. If I were local, that 2000 shortbed would be a must see. The '78 BP posted sounds interesting too.
November 26, 200916 yr Author Newsflash! I now have interest in the Mothertruck... ...and ... the Jaguar! This could change the whole dynamic.
November 26, 200916 yr "This could change the whole Dynamic 88." Harumph... didn't know you had a '67 Oldsmobile. HOW MANY CARS YOU GOT?
November 26, 200916 yr Author Well, I have had Oldsmobiles... None lately though, and never a "Dynamic". The vehicle count as of today is still 7, but tomorrow that should be changing. I'm sort of letting fate decide, whatever is left after selling a few will be where I start over.
November 26, 200916 yr Author Is this a telling fact? At the Wawa earlier today, a guy stopped in his tracks and stared at the wagon as I was on my way out of the store. He stopped me and asked if it was mine and we had a long talk in the vestibule as people passed us. During the conversation, he gushed about the car and said how much he'd like to have one... I didn't mention that it was for sale.
November 26, 200916 yr Either he was very handsome and you were distracted, or you secretly want to keep that wagon.
November 26, 200916 yr Author No secret, I want to keep the wagon. At least 'til it's finished. But I should have said something.
November 27, 200916 yr Author If finances weren't tight this one would be mine, so I'll let you have it: http://stcloud.craigslist.org/cto/1480373399.html If that thing were local, I might jump on it just out of principle. I love Scouts.
November 27, 200916 yr Yes and then you could scout around for fenders, rocker panels and lower quarters...
November 27, 200916 yr Author I've never heard of a fiberglass body for the old ones, would be cool though.
