Hyundai engine cover

Featured Replies

This engine cover on a Hyundai model (Santa Fe, I think) is garnering a lot of amused snickers and bewildered looks at auto workshops. Can you spot the cause of the amusement and confusion.

Finally got it. At first I didn't undetstand.

The first thing that came to my mind was that the cover looks like it would be for a longitudally mounted engine, not a transverse one, but that didn't explain the amusement.

My gutter-mind picked it up, if that is what it's supposed to be.

Your first answer was correct ... I'm far to pure and innocent to even see your second option.

I can't believe that somebody would design an engine cover for an east-west engine to look like a north-south engine and then not even bother to make it sit centrally. If they'd added two more fake intake runners to it, they could probably convince the ricers that it was a V8.

Haha...good...I picked up on the engine cover thing right away, but after reading MyerShift's post I went back and checked to see if I was missing something...then felt stupid for not seeing it...

So MyerShift, what exactly do you see :P

You KNOW what my other observation is- it's something that I have.

I highly doubt true ricers would drive a Hyundai or SUV of any kind.

Maybe they're trying to simulate a modern-day Chrysler Slant 6, that's why it's jammed over to the right like that.

I highly doubt true ricers would drive a Hyundai or SUV of any kind.

Ricers will drive anything...

Don't worry.. someone will find the position of the engine "innovative" and say that it's "something else that Detroit should worry about"
