Well, it's basically the car I was meant to love ... except it's a '98 Camaro. The deal was so good, I couldn't pass it up. It's an exceptionally clean and well maintained car; sadly the nicest later model car I've had. Throw away the odometer and you would think it has about 33,000 highway miles on it. It's bone stock right down to the catalytic converter. Even the A/C works, which is, again sadly, a first for anything I've owned. The previous two owners only kept the oil changed in it, changed the tires, and tinted the windows.

I'm just going to save about a thousand bucks and finance a late-model Ram Air Trans Am in a few months. No rush this time, GM built more than one. Or I might sell the Cutlass to my dad since I know he would want it and use the money from that to buy a T/A. Whichever course of action suits my mood, anyway. At least if I do sell the Cutlass to someone close in the family I know I can get it back eventually, no big deal.

As much as I am a fan of F-Body cars, they are no where near what used car dealers are asking for them here on the East Coast. It's not so much private sellers and consumers, just these little buy-here-pay-here deals who think someone has given them a truly collectible car. Sheer insanity. I've had no trouble telling any salesman who spat the "They don't make these anymore" line that maybe in another 30 years, they would be sitting on some cash, but right now they're asking a minimum of $1,000 too much for a 10 to 12 year old car with almost 150,000 miles. And chances are, not everything works and there is some sort of major exterior or interior flaw.

Yep, it's a 6er that, according to the owner's manual makes 305 lb. ft. of torque.

It's a DD and something to tinker around with making subtle mods to.

Actually, I sold the whole car for $650 bucks. Parted out the taillights and forward dash cap, sold the rest of the car to a guy in Glasgow who was going to stick the engine and trans in a Camaro.

You should continue with your planned modifications that you had for your previous 4th Gen. Some of those were cool, especially the supercharging idea.

I'll probably wind up dumping a few bucks in it.

I really would like to bring the car in line with 2010 standards but still look factory; upgrade the headlights to projector beam units, ditch the taillights in favor for the pre '97 versions that didn't have the amber section and had better flow with the rear lines of the car or maybe a nice set of LEDs, tighten the suspension up a bit more, install headers and a nice true dual exhaust system, reprogram the ECU, possibly upgrade the seats, door panels, and instrument cluster, stick a T/A Hurst shift knob on top of the stick, upgrade the rims and tires to a set from a newer Z06, install gold rear Camaro decals for the embossed section on the tailpanel and apply a set of non-outlined gold hockey stick stripes for each side of the car. I'm on the fence about a Z28/SS style rear spoiler; it also has a better flow with the lines of the rear of the car but it's a little bit too over the top.

Basically, I'm going to focus on making it a really nice, tasteful, and unique DD and seriously focus on whatever T/A I buy when that gets here sometime within this year.

I might supercharge it later on down the road, too. But that's not the first thing on my mind.

But it never fails for something like that to pop up after I'm just about broke. I'm not going to worry about it, though. Buying a daily driver I like and I want to keep really was the sensible thing to do in the end. If I want some form of a Trans Am, I'll fiance it with a personal loan when I have a few bucks more for a down payment and land a better job, like I mentioned earlier, no big deal.

And I just realized how rough my dad's truck looks in comparison to my car. That Dakota is a '99 with only 92,000 miles and it looks like it has 250,000 miles. I think that's going to be the next car in the family to go. He's really wanting a full-sized extended cab truck. If it wasn't for that shotty clear coat Chrysler used in the 90s, he could probably get 5 or 6k out of that truck easy because it's low-mileage and the interior is perfect.

You have the cool muscle car, and a nice daily driver to boot. You got it made in the shade as far as anyone is concerned, and I wouldn't even worry about a 70's Trans-Am at all.

True, but ... a T/A is a car I just have to own. It's a difficult thing to really explain. I'm sure it's the same for someone and Chevrolet Corsicas or something. I'm not worried or stressing out about buying one yesterday anymore or anything, but it's pretty much inevitable I'll wind up with one sometime here in the future.

OCD is hereditary in my family. Maybe that's what all of this stems from, I don't know. XD

No worries, all modifications will be easily reversible so that I can return the car to almost a 100 percent stock state should I need to. There won't be anything extreme going on.
