January 16, 200620 yr Hi All, just a quick question - I own a 1999 Silverado Extended Cab LT which is equipped with power heated side mirrors. The other night I parked on a street in atown I was visiting and when I pulled my mirror in toward the window to prevent someone from inadvertantly snapping it off... it snapped off. It is still attached, but the rotating mechanism has come apart and I had to tape the thing in place. Great. So My question is this: Has anyone here experienced the same thing on their Silverado? If so, is it repairable or do I really need to shell out for a new mirror? Is the replacement fairly easy or do I also need to pay high labour costs to install? Thanks - Moe
January 16, 200620 yr yeah, it happened to my sister's Silverado, too. Could be that is has been knocked in the past and was just holding on. My sister's had scuffs on it from where it has rubbed against somthing - wall? another car? one of my nephews? I don't think the mirrors are as bendable as GM claims.
January 16, 200620 yr I had a similar problem with a manually folding, heated power mirror on my Jeep Grand Cherokee..after hitting the mirror on a freeway construction barrel at 50mph it was just hanging by the wires, the plastic base broken. I got a replacement mirror head w/ glass and wiring for about $100 on the internet (some discount mirror supply place)....hooked it up and attached it myself (the most work was getting the interior door panel off).
January 17, 200620 yr I broke one off in a car wash, but they split the bill. 01 Silverado My dad broke one off differnt car wash. 02 sierra ill try to get you a price. from what the dealer charged me. Edited January 17, 200620 yr by capriceman
