It seems that people like to makea big deal out of navigation being available (or not available) on various cars. Put your feelings on what a car in a certain class "should" have aside and answer the question: Do you want a navigation system in your next car? And a bonus question: If you had navigation, would you use it?

Would like it, but don't need it. Haven't gotten lost yet! I would probably order it just as a bragging thing of how many gizmos my car has.

I bought a GPS for my PDA for a tad over $200. It gives all the goodies of a nav system, plus I can take it out of the car and use it while on foot.

I think it's a nice feature, but I can do without one if it's $2k.

I dont need it, but if the rest of the car fits my needs and my budget I'd take it. I have a pretty good natural sense of direction as well as a knack for exploring new cities so I can find everything.

Would like it, but it wouldn't keep me from a car. I'd use it, though... I like going on trips and not getting lost or having to pull over to use a stupid map. It's not that big of a deal right now, but it may be in the future. I mean... I'll be buying used cars for quite a few more years yet.

I don't need it. My first new car will likely have Onstar and if I am lost I can just press the button and they will guide me where I need to go. Also I, like most people, stay within my home city for 95% of my driving and I know where I am going without needing to look at a map. So for the 95% of the time I am in my car I want something usable like a nice looking radio or dash, rather than some blue screen with white letters telling me in big numerals what radio station I am listening to.

Depends on the car... any car that costs more than $30K should have one. I wouldn't want one on a MINI, but it's a must-have on a 3-series.

Funny this topic comes up. . . I just order a Pioneer D1 today. A buddy of mine owns a shop so I paid his price of $800 . . he makes over $1000 per unit. The bonus is that since I already have a DVD in the rear seats Im getting them connected to eachother.

It's DIN size so it replaces the factory radio for a nice clean look.

$1500-3000 for a map I'd never use, messed up radio/HVAC controls, or a setup like iDon'tDrive? No thanks. Give me an astroroof and chrome wheels ANY day.

I won't like Nav systems until someone designs one that doesn't compromise the user-friendliness of the radio and HVAC controls.

I'd like to have a nav system but it's not a deal breaker. I can use Mapquest but there are only so many times it can give bad directions. It's a given in a luxury car, though. You got to have it. For me, it would be a status maker/breaker-sort of thing.

Both of our vehicles (CTS and Trailblazer) have NAV systems. They've come in handy many times, especially when stuck in heavy traffic. The NAV system lets us search alternate routes, or to drive through side streets without getting lost. Remember, real men never stop to ask for directions. Just ask my wife about that.

I'd probably get an aftermarket (dash mounted) NAV if I go back to buying year old (pre-driven) Caddys. Couldn't pass up a NAV on the Trailblazer at 0% interest.

I made it to Detroit and back without NAV. For the last little bit of the trip trying to get to the Ren center, I used OnStar.

The only thing I would really use it for would be live traffic/accident reports in my vicinity. Otherwise... I tend to know where I am, and where I'm going.
