January 24, 200620 yr Yes it's hidedous & tacky but it's right in your back yard and the seller may be willing to let it go cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-PONTIA...1QQcmdZViewItem
January 24, 200620 yr All that money and they didn't do anything about the cheap GM cloth seats? Go for it BV, as long as you're destroying Grand Ams, you might as well destroy the worst there are.
January 24, 200620 yr Author I wish a stick wsas available on the last Gen. G/A GT but it was not. Thanks GM. More lost sales to Accords, Tiburons & Altimas.
January 24, 200620 yr I actually like the exterior. The kit's clean and the paint job's kind of cool. Too flashy for my tastes, but it's well done.
January 25, 200620 yr Oh boy... sounds interesting. *clicks link* Oh my... I hate the AED body kit. I hate that paint job. Lots of electronics, I see. A reserve that's not met, too, with no buy it now. Also... where the hell is King of Prussia, PA? Yeah, I don't do ebay unless it has a buy it now feature. That... and the car will likely not be cheap. A 2000 with 52K miles and all those mods? Look for close to $10k.
January 25, 200620 yr Damn! What's up with that? Talk about tacky. No wonder they're selling it. They must have stared at the body kit for 15 minutes and thought, "What have I done?"
January 25, 200620 yr That's not a Pontiac, right Vipes? It has no cladding! Where's the cladding? Don't ask me... My dream is to declad a 5th gen GA. What's your's?
January 25, 200620 yr To find a hot stud who is honest, responsible and fun to be with, someone I can spend my life with. :AH-HA_wink: Edited January 25, 200620 yr by ocnblu
January 25, 200620 yr Author I drove through King Of Prussia Penn on my famous roadtrip... just east of Lancaster County IIRC. Waht a cool name for a town.
January 25, 200620 yr Don't ask me... My dream is to declad a 5th gen GA. What's your's? If you're decladding one... you're better off with an Alero.
January 25, 200620 yr If you're decladding one... you're better off with an Alero. Grand Am styling > Alero styling... IMO. And I like the GA's interior. So there..
January 26, 200620 yr Author All that work and the engine looks like that? That's why they call it rice... the first rule of ricce is to not do anything mechanical but claim the car's putting out 40 more HP than stock because of a $h!ty cold air intake that has a 90* bend in the middle.

Don't forget the fart can tailpipe...an extra 25 hp there...and some yellow paint somewhere---a single yellow wiper or yellow stripes... 'cause yellow means FAST..
January 26, 200620 yr Author Moltar: I love yellow on certain Camaros, Vetes or Mopars... a yellow Solstice perhaps... btu I totally know what you're saying. A yellow car wiht yellow rims, yellow mesh-grille, yellow antena and windshield wipers is just gross. Around my neck of the woods Mopar "Sublime" seems to be showing up on Civics, Subarus, Corollas & Escorts at an alarming rate.
January 26, 200620 yr Meh. Myself, if I saw a great deal on a 5-speed Alero instead of a Grand Am, I wouldn't pass it up. You're talking 90% the same exact car.
January 26, 200620 yr Meh. Myself, if I saw a great deal on a 5-speed Alero instead of a Grand Am, I wouldn't pass it up. You're talking 90% the same exact car. Styling is the key... It's one of the bigger reasons that I'm even considering one at the moment.
January 26, 200620 yr Grand Am and Alero share doors. One reason for the wide, ribbed moldings on Grand Am doors... to hide the two ribs stamped into the sheetmetal. It looks especially funny on a 2 door Grand Am with no side moldings because the door has the Alero ribs, but the quarter is flat as a pancake ahead of the wheel.

Yes I noticed that also when the first cracked up GA showed up at our Chevy dealer in 1999. I think it's inevidable that someone out there will make a "Alero Am" or "Grand Alero" inthe fashion of the 3rd gen. Firebird with a Camaro ass that was in C&D years ago. It's a pretty straightorward "modification".
January 27, 200620 yr You guys are talking about de-cladding the recent Grand Am when the (wasn't it) '03 - '05 Grand Am didn't feature cladding because... ? The only thing I'm thinking of is cost right now.

The only thing I'm thinking of is cost right now. I'm guessing Pontiac was trying to clean up their act after years of criticism over the cladding...and the Alero was on it's way out then.
January 27, 200620 yr The '05 Grand Am, from what I know, existed just because the G6 coupe was not ready. It stayed coupe and GT only for retail. A stripper model sedan was fleet only.
January 27, 200620 yr Well, anyway, if I was BV I'd be looking into it. I know there's an '04 off rental on a local lot that's cheap. (I think they're asking $8,500... Well, maybe that is a little expensive.) Hell, I know I'd take it. I'm sick of driving a Dakota I got on loan from my dad.
January 27, 200620 yr First off, only the SE sedan got decladded. The SE coupe was discontinued. Probably because it didn't sell as well and that the quarter panel didn't feature the indent on the sheetmetal of the door, as Ocnblu mentioned. The GT kept it's cladding, as you know. I like the GT, not the SE, and I like the coupes, not the sedans. That's why I was talking about decladding a Grand Am. Besides... I wouldn't do it if I bought a 5th gen GAGT. Alot of work would have to be done... For one, to do something about the door not matching up and two, to make custom front and rear fascias to match the clean look that would be on the sides. That's why I said it was my dream...
January 28, 200620 yr Well, leave it to me to misunderstand. Ever seen a "decladded" Aztek? I spotted one in a Big Lots parking lot. Well, to be honest, only the right-front passenger door was missing the cladding (probably fell off). Horrible; there were plastic brackets and holes everywhere. Blahhh...
January 29, 200620 yr Latest issue of "Auto Exchange" (a local publication): '95 Grand Prix SE coupe $2599 '93 Cutlass convertible 3.4L, 38k miles $8900 '99 Grand AM GT coupe, 89k miles $5710 '92 Golf GL four door 5 speed with rims & tinted windows, clean $2150 '96 Jetta Trek 5 speed 114k miles $4495 '90 Civic H/B DX 5 speed, rims $3295 '88 Prelude $2495 '96 200SX 5 speed $3995 Lots of cheap used vehicles around this area. Manheim Auto Auction is very near me. It's one of the largest used vehicle auctions in the country.
