I ended up on the Official state car page and started scanning through. It seems like most countries transport their heads of state in the usual suspects, BMWs, Rolls Royces, Mercedes and the like. But Brazil uses something I wouldn't have expected.

The current official state car used by the president for regular transportation is a 2008-model armored version of the Ford Fusion. The same model is used as escort cars for the presidential motorcade. The vehicle was first used on 17 June 2008 when it replaced a 2004 Chevrolet Omega.

That was my thought. The Fusion was the best-selling midsizer in Brazil in 2008 (thank you Wikipedia) but I cant think of any reason they would pick a Fusion to replace an Omega.

Olds, as far as I can tell the 1st generation Fusion V6 can run unmodified on E85, but I cant find anything concrete on that. If thats the case, I could see it as a selling point to the Brazilian government.

Nevmind, E85 capability didn't hit the Fusion until the redesign, at least not off the shelf.

It's actually a 2000-02 Deville Sedan in black. I've seen it on the news. Chretien and Martin had a 1992 Buick Roadmaster. The Conservative Party website says that his personal vehicle is a 2003 Malibu LS Sedan. The Premier of Alberta has a Chrysler 300C.
