February 10, 201016 yr 2010 Chicago Auto Show Coverage The 2010 Chicago Auto Show wasn't all that impressive this year with very few vehicle introductions. Nissan/Infiniti decided to show up even though they were absent from Detroit. They didn't bring anything new and they got stuffed in a remote back corner behind Mitsubishi, Land Rover, and Jaguar. Chrysler re-used their exact same displays from Detroit, which is fine because they're actually pretty classy. Any speaker for Toyota couldn't make it more than 4 sentences without stressing how much their customers' safety mattered to them. They even went so far as to stress that the new, not even in production yet, Toyota Avalon wouldn't be built with the defective accelerator pedal..... as if doing so was akin to debuting a cold fusion powered model. Ford clearly had the most energy, but it was unfortunately lost on the snow tired crowd here who was really just waiting for the speaker to finish so they could go find a Starbucks. The new Silverado HD is impressive with it's 20,000lbs towing capacity, but all the important changes were on the inside. All in all, it wasn't a bad show, just not much to get excited over.
