In other news in Europe, Toyota's partner Peugeot will likely allow Toyota to use some of its platform such as the very Epsilon-like platform used by the 407 and the very Chi-like platform currently used by the 607. What does this mean? That the the next gen Yaris and Corolla will get handling and suspension help from the French. More interesting is the fact that these euro-platforms will lead to Toyota finally having a Camry and an Avalon that have good handling.

The 2012 Camry,ES, & Rav4 will likely be on the 407-platform. The next Avalon, Highlander, Sienna, and possilbly the next Tacoma will likely be on the 607-platfrom. This will mean several things. GM must be more capable than Toyota to deliver great product accross the board. Toyota will have an Avalon that can match the Chi and P40 sedans from GM and Ford. By then a Toyota Avalon V-8 doesn't seem farfetched.

No need to worry too much though because, GM is heading towards being the best automaker in the world by 2012. Not just the largest.

Toyota has had great successes over the years especially lately. Toyota is begining to reach out to gain resources. I think Toyota has imperial ambitions to grow by spending some of its capital to grow some established brands under Toyota's management. Subaru appears  to be victim # 1. Toyota wants this quality brand to fill the void between Toyota & Lexus. Honda is another vunerable yet highly prized automaker that would compliment Toyota well. THis is the nightmare scenario for GM fans like myself. Just Imagine Toyota matching GM in Brand numbers and blowing past GM in volume. This nightmare would both give Toyota volume and match GM's brand line-up. These comparsions are more figurative than literal.

Toyota-Chevy

Honda-Pontiac

Subaru-Saturn

Acura-Buick

Lexus-Cadillac

Let's hope that Toyota stays out of the empire building business.

Remember know thy enemy. We must watch out for the behind the scenes developments at Toyota. GM will likely recover by time this takes place. God forbiu they don't. No need to worry too much though because, GM is heading towards being the best automaker in the world by 2012. Not just the largest.

haha... you think GM mis manages their brands because they have too many name plates...

look at how bland Toyotas are... can you imagine if that same company had 80 something name plates?

haha they would suffer way more then GM did in the 80's and 90's...

I think Toyota doesnt have what it takes to do it right, and GM does... GM has history they can pull into new concepts... Toyota, just steals others... they cant steal other designs for 80 models...

Ok, I stick to what's realistic to talk about. Toyota is begining to bring in some european influences. GM & Ford both beat them to focusin on Europe.
