April 13, 201015 yr Well you realize I will not be able to resist saying the Golf will never do that, and with gas going back up, every penny counts.
April 13, 201015 yr Author Yeah, I don't expect the Golf to crank out mileage that high. As it's running now, I got 27 mpg driving it back from NJ. I do plan on trying to maximize its efficiency, though.
April 14, 201015 yr I think my average is 21 mph and 25.7 mpg right now... damn stop and go traffic to and from work all week.
April 14, 201015 yr I'm getting ~25 in pure stop and go driving. When the warmer weather hits, I haven't done many long trips with it. Last time I did I averaged 36 on a road trip from LI to Cortland. Someone please tell me why I need a hybrid.
April 14, 201015 yr Author I generally average anywhere from 28 to 32. I wasn't expecting to get almost 42 after an entire tank. Though, the elevation decrease from NWPA to NYC surely helped. The drive back home, I averaged 35.
