Last week, there were two Lucernes on display at the Buick Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, just outside Hartford. Both were silver with black interior one was in a tent, and the other was on the course. They look much bigger in person.

It is very sporty in person. It's very European looking but the portholes are definitely Buick. They had a rope around the car so you couldn't get inside, but it looked very nice inside. The guy told me it was assembled by hand for display purposes and that is why nobody could sit in it. It looks like a great car, but I kind of wish it was more Buick. Maybe if bars on the grill were bigger..more like the last Park Avenue, but I definitely liked it.
Why did Buick stop making chrome grilles? Now they are just dark gray with a chrome frame, and chrome emblem, I really think they look bad. After all, chrome is part of what makes a Buick! And there was also no need to take the color out of the emblem, either. I hope the Lucerne looks better in person too, because right now I don't think Buick is headed in the right direction.

I agree -- wasn't it "modern" enough as it was?

I think the chromatic emblem is very nice and fits with the times today. a big-ass red white and blue emblem can get pretty gaudy pretty fast. Even the Regals with the chromatic emblem look more modern than the Regals with the r/w/b emblem... but I guess it's all a matter of taste.

I agree; I like the monochromatic emblem, and as you say, the bigger it gets, the gaudier it looks. Now, if Buick was an ultra-luxury division, above Cadillac, they could have updated the logo with rubies, diamonds and sapphires to give it the tri-shield colors LOL

The Lucerne's design has really grown on me. I thought it was too conservative at first. Now I think it's a pretty attractive vehicle, especially for its intended demographic. The biggest problem is with the front end. The nose is too blunt, the grill too flat. The should be some curves or angles in there somewhere. It's lacking, just the rear end on the G6 and Cobalt.

You mean the Joseph Abboud special edition? I preferred the regular emblem on the Regal myself. :P I liked the red, white and blue shields...in a sense, it added a patriotic touch to the logo, in the eyes of this American. http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/AH-HA_wink.gif

Yeah, you have to have some way to tell if it is an American Buick or a
Chinese one! :(
