April 21, 201015 yr ... the front wheel fly off of an Accord and cross 4 lanes of traffic. The driver stepped out of the car and let out a loud "F$%k!". I just laughed.
April 21, 201015 yr Was it a new Accord?? The 20+ year Toyota owner co-worker of mine that is car shopping has now aimed her sights on an Accord. I've been working her since October to give the new Buick LaCrosse a chance, and in February she said she would check it out, but gave up on shopping in March. Now here in April, with her '88 Corolla just moments from falling completely apart, she's resumed shopping again with an interest in Accords (there are several out in the parking lot).
April 21, 201015 yr And in a corollary... About 18 years ago, I was doing parking lot security... a nice 1983ish Malibu coupe comes rolling in with the front wheel wobbling... just as its coming to a stop, the wheel pops off and rolls across the parking lot and the car touches down on the rotor. Guy gets out... yells and screams F#$&... hands the other security guard the keys and his phone number and says its his- call him to arrange for the title!!! He gets cab and leaves. So we look over the car... puts the spare on. Turns out, the wheel feel off because only one lug nut was on... The wobbling had fatigued the metal around the lug hole and broken a little window out of the wheel, for the wheel to slip off. Other security guard drives the car home... gets the title... sells his Sentra and drove the Malibu problem free at least another year. Even after I left the job, I used to see it parked at his house for probably half a decade. I was so jealous. Still am.
April 21, 201015 yr Author It wasn't a new Accord, but not ancient and in pretty good shape otherwise.
