April 21, 201015 yr Anyone puts his or her hands in your mouth is a brave mother trucker... Not jealous of the dental surgeon... Hope you can pay for it...that damn dental stuff is pricey...
April 21, 201015 yr Author Yeah, I'm not fond of dentists so they do run a risk... All joking aside, this could be a major crisis both physically and financially. It has me jumpy. I'm hoping that there is a "wait and watch" option, but it doesn't look good.

April 21, 201015 yr Author Needles are the least of my worries. When the dentist says things like "possible disfigurement" and "they may want to crack your pallet and go in that way", I get a bit edgy.
April 21, 201015 yr Camino... daunting news. I hope it works out better than you expect. Let us know what's up.
April 21, 201015 yr I hope everything works out, and the price or pain are that bad. Edited April 21, 201015 yr by gm4life
April 22, 201015 yr Author Thanks guys. I should have a better idea about what has to happen on friday when I see the surgeon.
April 22, 201015 yr Just see if you can find a donor for the whole head and do a head swap. Maybe you could get Brad Pitt to donate, and you could have some good luck in the female department...
April 22, 201015 yr I wish you the best of luck, I'd rather have a leg amputated than relive a particular visit to the dentist.
April 22, 201015 yr What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger... or some such bullsh!t. Just out of the whole surgery circle (not dental)- all SORTS of wicked-azzd fun. I believe I'm now permanently in the surgeon's 'party stories' repertoire. Good health & fortune to you, Camino. It'll work out. Edited April 22, 201015 yr by balthazar
April 23, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the good wishes. Saw the surgeon today, got the skinny (and three presciptions). Now I have to do a cost-benefit analysis on the level of pain relief/anesthesia. I'll be losing the tooth responsible (no great loss since it never came in), and maybe one other, and getting a bone graft. It's going to be a big deal since the tooth is way up in my gum under my nose and above another tooth. The worst part is that I have another tooth just like this one on the other side...

Have a pair of accountants analyze the cost-benefit including assigning fixed asset costs and amortization of the bone, including the "goodwill of having no tooth above the other". Get a lawyer to sue and protect just in case things go south. Get media to hyperbolically report your events. Have a pair of lobbyists to justify your case. And finally get a congressman to write a bill to approve the decision. In short you will never get it done.
April 24, 201015 yr Because of periodontal disease, I am facing implant surgery myself to replace 8 front teeth in July, and I am only 46. Insurance will only pay about $3,000, so I will have to pay about $15,000 out of my own pocket.

April 24, 201015 yr My dad chewed tobacco for 20 years and stopped going to the dentist during that time. About 10 years ago, he started having some really bad pain in his mouth. He gave in and went to the dentist, only to find he needed $8000 in repair. Hasn't touched tobacco since. Had he not brushed regularly, he'd probably have very few teeth by now. Best of luck Camino. It's better to get it done now than live with constant aching or run into issues later down the road.
April 24, 201015 yr Author Thanks Mustang. I'm going to try to make it through my current landscape project before I get it done. I'm going to need that money!
April 24, 201015 yr Camino, Sorry you are having to experience this.... Thoughts/prayers coming your way, of course. GOOD LUCK. April 25, 201015 yr Hopefully you won't wake up from the surgery with the Jawbone of an ASS! Oh boy....
April 25, 201015 yr Hopefully you won't wake up from the surgery with the Jawbone of an ASS! I've been wondering where you got off to; the lights are starting to get dim and no one's been cleaning the office bathroom around here. You can moonlight from cleaning Ed's Private Executive Washroom once a week to save face can't you? And Camino, I hope the best for you. I have dental problems to worry about too so I really understand how bad things suck right now.
April 26, 201015 yr Author Hopefully you won't wake up from the surgery with the Jawbone of an ASS! I'm sure some already hold such an opinion of my jawbone. But that's ok, it's usually mutual. Glad to see you checking in PCS, hope all is well with you. Edited April 26, 201015 yr by Camino LS6
