February 10, 200620 yr NYPD could be replacing their Impala & Crown Vic squad cars with the Dodge Charger. Testing now.
February 10, 200620 yr That is one MEAN LOOKING FUZZ MOBILE!---Will the unibody hold up as well as the full frame panther Vics???

February 11, 200620 yr I'm told around here they dump the Vics early not because of frame issues but because the engines give way around 60k to 80k. They also have been noticing alot of squeeks and groans early on with the Vics. By comparison we still have Caprices running around with almost 200k.
February 11, 200620 yr If these things hold up it will go a long way in helping DC's quality image. NY State has major beef with Ford over the gas tanks, I believe at least 4 police officers statewide were killed in fires and in Jersey power steering issues have cause a few deadly wrecks in the CV's.Im guessing the magnum will also see NYPD duty, More trunk space, Now they can dump the Explorers.
February 11, 200620 yr Caprices are still the best squad cars despite their age and the fact they haven't been made in a decade. Crown Vics are tame & lame by comparison.
