Pink Floyd certainly is a bizarre name for a band, isn't it? It is widely thought that the band is named after two American blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. There is an alternate story that Syd Barrett got the name from a flying saucer, but then again, Syd Barrett was drugged out of his mind. However, I have recently discovered that the name Floyd means "the hollow." Ponder that for a moment.

I love PF...they are truly an amazing group...their sound was deffinitely revolutionary...they are very distinct and there is really nothing quite like their style of music.

One of my top 5 favorite Bands of all time! Pink Floyd is awsome.

As a teen wiht typical societal/sexual/school angst I often relaxed to this album and just drifted off to a better place. To this day the sound of the water in with that symphonic melody puts me in a very meloncholie mood. It's deep, dark, mysterios and yet inviting.

Outside of their really early stuff and the stuff from their prime, my knowledge of the Floyd gets really fuzzy.

I've been a fan since high school..saw them on the '94 tour in Akron. I esp. like the later post-Waters albums--A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell...but I also like a lot of the earlier work--Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Final Cut in particular.

It was David Gilmour's guitar work that got me interested in PF.

Speaking of DG, I'm going to see him on his solo tour in April.

I love Pink Floyd, you can trip out just on the music alone. I currently have The Wall, and Dark Side of The Moon, and I've been in the market for Wish You Were Here fore quite some time. I have no idea why I haven't gotten it yet...

Goodtimes. . . pink floyd brings back the good old days of being in my dad's '79 Grand Prix. Ive got every cd release and still to this day listen to each song without getting bored of thier music.

I love the vocals on that song. Waters's voice sounds so trippy, and always makes me feel like I'm on drugs, then Gilmour comes in with the real emotional stuff in the chorus. It's a perfect blend with Gilmour's solos.

I had a long-term relationship with that song. A band I was involved with covered it (pretty well too) so I've heard it done live more times than I can count. We only did a few covers and "Comfortably Numb" was always special somehow. :AH-HA_wink:
