Cars you've managed to avoid, but...

Featured Replies

...you can't get completely free of wanting at some level.

They stick in your mind, and you might be susceptible to a good deal.

Some of mine:

Corvette (year and trim unknown)

70-73 Camaro (again)

A convertible (have yet to ever own one)

Avalanche (still love the concept)

Solstice coupe

'Cuda

'73 Roadrunner

'66/'67 GTO (or even a Lemans in that dark teal color)

'67-'69 Firebird

'70-'73 Firebird

'89 Turbo T/A

'87 Regal T-Type Turbo

E-Type Jag

A convertible (have yet to ever own one)

I'm shocked. We've got three converts in the family. '67 GP, '68 Catalina and '98 Sunfire. I only drove the Catalina for an extended period, and even though it was a seriously hopeless car, its was FUN AS HELL. No sunroof or T-tops come close.

Most of my cars I really want are various Pontiacs, of course... but most are interchangeable or I can settle for more basic versions.

The car that's ALWAYS in the back of my mind... '71 or '72 Buick Riviera. I just HAVE to have one someday.

Even my desire for the '66 Toronado has passed over the years.

A boattail Riviera is definitely on my list as well.

About the convertible thing, my first car was nearly a '70 Chevelle convertible ($400 circa 1978/79). When that didn't happen, somehow no other verts have either. I intend to break that streak someday.

t-type. gn parts are getting scarce as far as body goes but man they are mean lookin. id got for a WE4 mainly. a guy in high school had a 69 opel gt. that was pretty cool. maybe a spitfire or tr6 from the early 70's.

On my "most want to own list" right now:

Solstice Coupe, GXP, mnaual

Cooper S

GTI VW, MK 5 or MK 6 (or an R32!)

240Z

Air Cooled 911

I don't think you'd want to avoid any of those Stang.

For me, the obvious one years ago was trucks. I don't like trucks and I'm not a fan of SUVs. But the Avalanche caught my attention with it's versatility and then as I looked at it longer I noticed how attractive it is for a truck. It's probably the only one out there that I'd buy because of the aesthetic instead of in spite of it. I can't think of any other truck, even the Escalade EXT, that I find visually appealing from the outside.

-a convertible (almost bought a '68 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 convertible about four years ago)

-a commercial chassis vehicle (almost bought a '67 Miller-Meteor Cadillac hearse about four years ago, and daydream about limousines, hearse, ambulances, flower cars, etc. all the time)

-first, second, or early third generation Corvette

-first generation Camaro/Firebird

-'65-'67 and 1970 GTO

-pre 1954 Chevrolet or GMC one ton (or larger payload, love them duallys with the flared out running boards) panel truck

..... and the list goes on and on.

The 1971-1972 Riviera is also waaaaaaay high up on my list as well. Almost bought a dirt cheap '73 for a backup car about two years ago, but the flattened boat tail and ugly giant malaise bumper up front really does an otherwise awesome car a disservice.

Manufacturer concept/dream car.

Pro car.

'50s Cadillac.

Something vintage I can drive right now.

'49-50 Merc.

Oh easy....

1975 Caprice Classic convertible

1979 Caprice Classic coupe

1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe

1973 Monte Carlo w/454 and swivel buckets
