Million-Dollar Ferrari Crashes in Malibu

From the L.A. Times:

A driver lost control of a Ferrari sports car traveling 120 mph along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu this morning, slamming into a power pole that cut the car — which sells for up to $1 million — in half, according to authorities.

One man suffered minor injuries. He was identified as Stefan Erikssen, of Bel-Air, said Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The sports car went airborne and struck a power pole 5 to 10 feet off the ground, Brooks said. The car was demolished, but two air bags deployed.

"You pay a million bucks for a car, you expect safety," Brooks said.

Investigators said they believe the driver was alone in the car and was engaged in a street race at the time of the accident. Erikssen told them the driver of the car fled on foot, but a search turned up no one, Brooks said.

Yea...it crashed near Decker canyon on PCH. If I knew about this earlier I would have gone before school to see if I could check it out...Decker canyon is Westlake Blvd. and Westlake Blvd. is the street I live off of. Pretty crazy incident...Supposedly from what I have heard the guy has 2 enzos though. Another one I believe he bought used off some guy...not completely sure...

EDIT: just caught this from the article...

"We get some speed violations, but nothing over 70 mph," Brooks said.

Makes me laugh to think about how fast I have gone on PCH... :ohyeah:

Expect safety? I'm sorry, but going 120 mph, you are more likely to die than not regardless of whatever safety systems a car has. Der-dee-der!

Where in 'bu did this happen I wonder? Out by Leo Carrillo, closer to the pier or in the congested area by Moonshadows? It must have been out by the former. I don't understand some people. I am so risk-averse...just look at the old-lady car I drive.

Wow, more money than brains!

I've opened it up a couple times late at night :AH-HA_wink:

TCB: Decker (about where he crashed) is in between Kanan and, well, camarillo I guess...If you are going north driving past Zuma, it is kinda after Zuma...

what is the big deal...this is just another typical SoCal rush hour fender bender..

LOL.
