General Motors Corp. is seeking a spot on Delphi Corp.'s creditors' committee, saying its interests aren't being represented by the current committee as Delphi reorganizes in bankruptcy court.

GM filed its request Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The court has scheduled a hearing March 9 to consider the request.

GM asked to be part of the creditors' committee in October but was rejected, along with the United Auto Workers and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., the government body that ensures pensions. In January, a bankruptcy trustee allowed the UAW and the PBGC to become nonvoting members of the committee.

After the UAW and the PBGC joined the committee, GM asked to be named a nonvoting member but the committee objected, the automaker said in its court filing. GM is now asking the bankruptcy judge to settle the matter.

"The current configuration of the committee renders the committee an adversary of General Motors rather than a statutory representative of it," GM said in its court filing.

Umm -- seems like the ought to have a say since they're going to be picking up the tab if things don't work out?
