E-85 fuels NASCAR

I really hope that major companies supply this fuel, this is great to see GM in the center of it all.

wonder what it would take to make all GM vehicles flex-fuel capable? From what I've heard from farmers, older machinery have problems with seals when using high levels of eth. I would assume the same is true with cars & trucks (though I suppose that could be a bad assumption). Wouldn't think it would cost THAT much more to upgrade the seals across the board, then have big bragging rights & push this forward.

I actually hope some of the non-major companies supply the fuel and people start buying it. This would take revenue away from the major oil companies, particularly ExxonMobil which I consider to be one of the most corrupt corporations in existance today. Having more choices will also help me personally since I don't do business with ExxonMobil and go out of my way to avoid giving them money.

I dont think major oil companies will supply this fuel because of the lower the 400% profit. . . hopefully someone like Walmart could supply it considering it should be alot cheaper the oil based gas. Now befor the flame war starts about Walmart. . . it's only an example to show an alternative distrubutor from oil companies.

Technically they don't. Another company: http://www.murphyoilcorp.com/ actually owns and runs the gas stations...they have sort of working contract with Walmart though.

Hopefully, GM will combine E85 capable engines with hybrid technology, I think that would more than offset the faster burning E85 over just gas alone. Sounds good to me.

But automakers concede that it's a dead-end strategy if customers can't get E85. Only about 600 of the nation's 170,000 filling stations sell it. Ford has begun a modest program to install E85 pumps at more stations.

Such a great point. Here in southern ontario, Chatham currently produces E85 with plans for a new "Next Generation" refinery here in Windsor, problem is there is no way of getting it.

When I bought my Sierra there was a "Flex-Fuel" option on the 5.3L, im now kicking myself in the ass for not going that way. . . instead the 6.0L has me stoping to refuel every other block
