    It wasn't quite 'last-minute,' but these were destined to be Antareses, not Auroras. Though I haven't personally driven one, I wouldn't expect the 215/230 3.5l Shortstar to have any issues with the '01 Auroras; 205/230 3800s do fine in the LeSabre, Bonnie, and Park Ave. Also, the 2nd-gen Auroras were about 200lbs lighter than the Classics

    That Aurora at the Lexus dealer has been on eBay for several months now. I've driven both the Aurora 3.5 and 4.0. There's no question the 4.0 has more power, but the 3.5 is not unreasonable. The Aurora also loses a couple of hundred pounds with this engine.

    Maybe I should have clarfied... I think owning a Northstar is expensive enough even with the 300 horsepower and a smooth V8... having 3/4 of that power and smoothness in a package that's about 9/10 as expensive to maintain is not worht it IMHO. I'd rather have the 3800 if I can't afford a V8.

    I'm not a big fan if V6s in general. Much prefer an Inline-6 over a V6. The 3800 though is a special engine indeed.
