'67 Chevy Biscayne VIN Research

Featured Replies

Hi all - New here but trying to find out the background on my '67 Chevy Biscayne. Heard Chevy a few months ago Chevy had not yet cataloged all old VINs but wondering if anyone knows anything about this. Would love to know the actual build details on my car.

Thanks much.

Welcome to the forum!

The last I heard, there was an attempt being made to provide original build information for Chevy in the same way that Pontiac Historic Services does. I don't think this has gotten off the ground yet - I hope it does.

Yeah, that is what I heard too. I was told about 6 months ago they were in process but not sure who to ask if they've moved forward. My previous GM contactg left. Any suggestions? Maybe the heritage center?

Welcome to the site! If you're near a Borders, Barnes and Noble or some libraries, look up the VIN Data in a Standard Catalog book-there's an individual one for Chevrolet (1911-2003 is the latest edition), and there's also the Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1946-75-both from Krause Publications. I'd put the VIN codes on here, but I don't have the book on me and won't get a chance to look until later tonight or so-I'll see to remember to do that though.

Hi again- so I typed '67 but meant '68 Biscayne. My goal is to get the original build sheet for the car (VIN 154118U172433). A book at Borders would have that?

Thanks again!

No it wouldn't. Only General Motors/ Chevrolet would... or any company that steps up, buys the records & sells them, ala PHS.

1:Chevy

5411: 2-door 6 pass Biscayne

8: Model year

U: Assembly Plant (F-Flint T-Tonawanda I don't know where U is...)

172433: Unit number

Thats alot of Biscaynes...

This was in my '67 Chevrolet service manual.

Pull out the rear seat cushions.

I once found an original bill of sale, build sheet,

and Alabama license plate in a "69 Chevelle

under there.

Looks like that deal is off - I made a call and the word is it aint happening. Hope this changes.
