Stuck accelerator = 135mph

Long story short: the gas pedal gets stuck, the car acelerates to 135mph, driver fries the brakes trying to stop, and the "gears were jammed", preventing him from shifting into neutral.

Yeah. Right. :bs:

Once they check out the car (a 3-series BMW BTW)and find there was nothing wrong, he's got some 'splaining to do. :stupid:

I wasn't aware a 318i could do 135 MPH, not even according to BMW's inflated speedometers.

Haha...this was on the BMW forums and people were cracking jokes about the 318 doing 130...

The guy is a moron though...he could have turned off the ignition (while still keeping the key in of course to prevent lockup) and even without power steering, at those speeds he could've safely navigated his way to safety just fine without the power assist...

Wow.... wait for a straightaway, turn the car off, put the brakes to the firewall and hope for the best. He might not have crashed and worst case at least the motor is off once the car does crash.

Even without power brakes there is still this magnificent invention called the "e-brake" short for emergency brake...it's not just there for looks and there is a reason it is called an "emergency" brake... Other than being used when parking and doing crazy stunts, it's purpose it to be used during emergencies...gosh, what a concept. :P

For reference, BMW claims 129 mph as the 318's top speed. <_<:P

there are such things as hills and my van could prolly get about that fast if it were rolling downhill

Police patrol cars were also sent but struggled to catch up with the BMW 318.

What are they driving? Peugoets?

I actually had this happen to me(or similar) once when I had my Camaro. After I had swapped in the 350, I was a little sloppy, and forgot to put the pin in that holds the cruise control bar(or whatever its called) in place on the TB. Of course, I was smart enough to eventually turn off the ignition(after shifting into neutral didn't work well) by the time I had hit 80. Stupid guy. (BTW, the first thing I did when I stopped the car was cut out the cruise controol  )

Human error,I'm sure. I hope this guy does quit driving. 60 miles?! Sheesh!

And how! Seems like his biggest problem wasn't brake fade, it was brain fade... :stupid:
