Stick shift available for 4-cylinder G6

Featured Replies

Anybody heard about this? I was at a G6 forum, and someone mentioned that starting 2007 the 2.4L will gain a 5-speed manual.

If so, that's good news... it hints at the probability of a similar powertrain combo in the Aura.

That would be a nice addition. If they want it to compete with the Asian marks, they need to offer it. Plus it will only improve it's gas mileage ratings.

Better than an auto, I guess... Although, I still don't get the reason why a 167hp 4cyl needs to power a 3500lb car. :P

Alright... I still think it pointless for a 167hp 4cyl to power a 3305lb car.

ought to make it a 6 speed while we are at it... its becoming more popular to offer 6 speeds

a stick 4 cyl G6 would be a great entry level offing for someone who doesn't want to drop more money on a smaller car like a civic.

I agree.....

IF I had to buy a G6....I'd probably buy a 5-speed/2.4L DOHC 16-valve combo over the pushrod 3.5L and 4-speed auto GT version.....

Is the V6 offered with a manual? They should offer it with a 6-speed manual and at least a 5-spd auto..

From what I heard no. 3.5L still comes standard with 4-speed Hydramatic.

This change is limited to 2.4L.

Ok..still the same old, same old... Sad.

only on the high priced GTP.

Same with the Aura, which I won't consider if the base powertrain is a 3500 OHV V6 and four-speed automatic.

Well, I hope this pans out. That should be a fun, economical combo.

hah...my friend and I were just talking about this. He'd go for a G6 sedan with the 2.4, but said "No thanks" when he found that it didn't have a stick. This might sway him, a potential conquest buyer.

A 2.4 stick is a great idea here. I drove a 2.4 automatic sedan and was surprised at the power it had! It would make a great daily driver for the money. It had a sticker of $16990 and had a windshield price of $15699. Try getting a Camry or Accord brand new for that price. The stick would only improve the power and mileage.

While at it, I do hope they fix the options list.

It's rediculous that fog lamps and cargo nets aren't even available on the 4-cylinder.

The G6 rocks. Mine has been awesome and I drive the hell out of it. Clearly a superior car to the Camcord and Altima and even cars like the TSX, Lexass IS250, or 325 don't stack up against it for quality and performance :P

Don't tell C&D that its better though, may hurt their ratings... morons.

Wish they had it now . . . I would have lookked at the G6 a little more if they had the stick. Instead I ended up with a Fusion.

IF there is ANY sight of a pushrod engine within 100 miles of the AURA, then GM will have shot themselves in the foot for the LAST time....

My guess is the Aura's V6 offerings will all be the HFV6. I think we'll see a 250HP V6, and a Red Lline using the same engine at around @70-275HP. Also, with the Ectotec as the standard I4 offering, Saturn will probably go after the Camry's jugular and have a hybrid Green Line sedan rate at around @ 200-215 HP (just enough to out power Camry's hybrid).
