October 27, 201015 yr Anyone else have trouble with people who place ads on CL not responding to e-mails and phone messages? I've found two great parts trucks for the Mothertruck project and got no response to my inquiries. Annoying.
October 27, 201015 yr Good luck on the parts truck...I actually found my last two jobs on CL, and have found LOTS of great deals on stuff like furniture and so forth. But some CL people are jerks....not all of them though....

October 28, 201015 yr I've experienced the same. 85% of the ads I email provide NO response. But it seems that the folks who do respond usually respond REALLY fast.

Its related to the fact that most CL postings are free... so the person selling (or whatever) has little vested in the ad (either money or interest). OTOH, some CL ads are paid... like employers or real estate in some markets... and these ALWAYS seem get a prompt reply. So, its free to them... it just costs your time to rake through the junk and idiocy. I guess it beats buying a "Trading Times" or a "Thrifty Nickel".
October 28, 201015 yr Too numerous to count. The last one was with the '55 GMC dump truck I posted about this summer; several e-mails to the seller (no phone # was posted), all went unanswered. The downside to using Craigslist I guess.
October 28, 201015 yr Camino, if you want to ensure a fast response from a Craigslist seller, always change the subject of the e-mail line a bit, no exceptions. A Craigslist seller is more likely to actually read and take your message seriously if you do this. For example, if the subject line Craigslist gives you in a blank e-mail says "2008 Fender '72 Telecaster Deluxe - PRICE DROP ($500)" reduce that down to just "Fender '72 Telecaster Deluxe" or simply "Telecaster Deluxe". I sell a lot of stuff through Craigslist and you tend to get a lot of e-mails asking dumb questions like, "Do you still have it?", in which case that leads to a further e-mail trying to lure you into a scam.
