The Heartbeat of Australia, Is Today's Chevrolet

Featured Replies

It's built >here< so it's a >here< car.

Yeah- I hear that ALL the time WRT the mercedes & BMWs cranked out in the U.S. : American cars.

'59 Chevy sig implication is urban myth, BTW.

"Holden runs deep", eh? It looks very nice, too bad it should have been here 2 years ago. So whens this coming? 2084?

What is it about the Aussies and these crappy hood scoops? Give it some character, and make it not look like I used a Sawzall to create it.

Well, all cars fly eventually... at some speed. It may not have flown, but my mother swears her '59 Chevy has a serious lift issue at high speed.

Consider that stock-bodied '59 Chevys ran in numerous Grand National races (& other circuits). Junior Johnson won the '60 Daytona 500 in one averaging 124 MPH.

A '59 Chevy was tested in the wind tunnel a few years ago- only way they could configure it to show lift from the fins was to test it in reverse.

I don't doubt your mother's perception, but it was merely that.

LOL, no doubt... she hated the car, I'm sure was looking for any reason to knock it. the car was punishment for putting her '61 in a lake after mowing down a tree.

I hated that jingle, Mr. Oracle of Pontiac. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Which jingle are you referring to "The Heartbeat of America"?

I loved that one especially when using the heartbeat sound it seamed like Chevy's had a life of their own.
