Rake Your Spots Into This Pile Here

Time for hot cider, logs on the hearth, and giant piles of car spots to jump into. Have at it, folks!:)

Saw a 2010 Camaro LS in bright blue, with a few owner-made (I presume) tweaks...the front and rear bowties were chrome w/ dark blue insets--looks nicer than the gold ones, IMO...and chrome 'LS' letters below the Camaro lettering on the front fendrs.

White Grand Cherokee, very handsome

Metallic brown and a silver Sportage, very sharp

Lots of new Sonatas

Love the Impala plate!

Also saw a tweaked Camaro (blacked out tails and marker lights) and a very nice hidden headlight grille.

And this morning I saw a Saab 900 turbo convertible in teal with a black top - been a while since I've seen one.

I was behind this '03-'06 Chevy Silverado this morning on the way in to work. The truck is not so much my point as is the tailgate. I really liked that Chevy was putting the "CHEVROLET" letters on the tailagtes again with the '99 redesign, even if it was only on the basic models of the Silverado (the Avalanche benefited too). It was a throwback to older Chevy pickups and I liked it better than the big bowtie emblem as seen on the '07+ Silverado or the smaller CHEVROLET emblem that was started in '92. I wish it would come back on the new Silverados, and of course a larger "GMC" emblem than the current small one on the Sierra.

Anyway, this truck was cool because it was a regualr cab shortbed 2WD pickup modified to look like the '03-'06 Silverado SS (the frontend was used, along with the rims, and if the rear rollpan isn't from the SS it sure looked like it was). The only thing that stood out in a wierd way was that the owner left the factory side trim on that the SS did not have. How do I know this? eventually I passed him in creeping traffic when he exited the highway.

A white circa-1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Woody. There weren't too many of those sold.

How's this for randomly wandering around downtown Toronto on a Friday afternoon eh?

Whoa. Talk about perfect placement, too.

Cool..the '93 version w/ woodgrain was badged as a Grand Wagoneer, the only year they carried that name over to the GC. I've seen a few over the years in dark green or white.

I think the GC is probably the best looking of all of the SUV's. Were I in the SUV market, i would buy a GC, I think.

Fantastic spot on the Cord, Olds...

I've seen several vintage Land Rovers running around lately, of all things.

Saw a really clean bone stock early '80s Regal 2dr yesterday evening...silver blue w/ dark blue 1/2 top.

Front plate WIN!

I think I'm going to get that plate made into 4-5 inch tall letters in vinyl for the top of my windshield, printed backwards (like on ambulances) so that when I come up behind people they can read it in their rearview mirror and hopefully take the hint :AH-HA: (or because the Envoy is taller than most cars, made I'll splurge for one of those bug deflectors and put it on there instead)

Classy. I like. Bug deflector writing, especially :AH-HA:

That plate would go well on mom's Camaro...then again, she suggested something similar herself. Whatever it was, the DMV classified as offensive, of course.

All I ever "spot" are new cars lately...

...touring the GM lot last Sunday again, a new '11 Malibu with the just released "White Diamond Premium Package" (also comes in a Red Jewel Premium Package) adding these $$ colors everyone loves to the cloth seated 1LT, along with a few other options and chrome wheels. Dressy. Nice price.

First green Mazda 2 in person...but it also now sits in front of my office window. Elicits more comments than anything else.

saw a yellow vw bradley gt in helen yesterday twice. going where ever it was heading and then coming back.

Saw a white Dodge Dakota convertible yesterday..first one of those I've seen in a while. Parked in front of it was a tastefully done '80s Grand Prix lowrider..bright blue, very clean condition.

Saw a very fantastic 69 Olds 442 post today, dark green, wonderful condition, made me want to own one!

Off to the gas station mid-day to fill up a customer's new Mazda, and this pulled in. Asked the guy & said it was an '86 Limited he bought from an older lady "at the hospital". Identical to my brother's '86 except for the blue vs. black landau roof, even bought with the same miles, but better shape all around. "Wanna buy it?" I said no...but should have gotten his number.

Red '70 GTO convertible on my trip to Easton, MD yesterday. Very nice. And caddycruiser, I saw your little satellite store there on Rt 50 just up from the GM dealer I used to work at (under new ownership now.) Cute.

Saw the new Kia compact CUV whose name escapes me..neat looking, bright red..walked around it. Pretty distinctive..

It's called the Sportage here in Europe. It stands out from the crowd.

Yes, that's what it's called in NA also...for some reason, I can never remember the name of that one.

I've seen some really odd things lately.

Bunches, actually...to many to post here...like the guy driving a bright Yellow VW thing, windows down, singing at the top of his lungs...

Saw a Silver Audi TT while driving to a service call at work today....lic plate, Ohio vanity plate...BOW TE GY...or bow tie guy...which one would assume to be chevy.

Was going to Ace Iron and Scrap, to sell off some copper and scrap from my electrical and HVAC pursuits...was being followed by a Brinks truck.

At the scrap yard...two armed guards pop out...and start selling copper scrap.

I mean, the price of scrap copper is high...but come on now boys...

Saw my first new GC in the metal yesterday. Subtle. I had to look closer to make sure it was the newer model.

Saw this evening 3 cars I haven't seen examples of in years, maybe decades on a couple of 'em... a white Mazda GLC 3dr, round headlights, early model..really clean..a yellow Volvo P1800 coupe, very clean, and a last a slammed, dechromed, satin black '65 Fairlane 4dr w/ mesh grille over the headlights and grille opening. Strange. Realized the greenhouse of that era Fairlane when viewed from the side is very similar to the '67-76 Valiant and Dart.

Cool that you were in the area. The satellite office is actually "Drop & Drive" where you can drop your car for service, pick a new loaner & then come back when it's done. We even put new brown Juke there, I saw yesterday when picking up a customer in Easton.

Today another new '11 GC, filthy as could be, in the Enterprise rental lot in Rehoboth. I wanted to stop in & rent it for a day or two, for a full trial.

Saw a Lincoln Blackwood, and a red MGA and a white MG-TC driving together on a cool, sunny Saturday.

Yesterday, a bright red '58/'59 Apache pickup pulled in to a spot next to me at the Wawa. It was a nicely hot-rodded shortbed stepside - looking and sounding great.

2011 Jeep Patriot, base model, first one I've seen, in a very crispy white. Grocery store parking lot.

Lincoln Blackwood, outside a little convenience store in a tiny MD town, with the 20" chrome Harley Davidson F-150 wheels from the same gen on it. Been so long since I've seen one, and odd with the mismatched but kinda matched wheels.

Saw a very sharp, shiny gold '72 Olds Cutlass Vista Cruiser w/ woodgrain on the lower body.

SO weird.

Today going to work, THE "local" Blackwood (only one) for sale in a yard/driveway on the highway about 10 miles from my house.

What is with the Blackwood all of a sudden...this one at least is the untouched original. It intrigues me. Wonder how much.

Saw a silver current gen Merc E-class wagon yesterday. Sweet. Didn't realize MB was selling the current gen wagon in the US.

A pair of intriguing trades on our Ford/Hyundai lots. The 2010 Insight most of all, traded for a new Hyundai.

IMG_1963.jpg

The all new 2011 Hyundai Elantra, this one a Limited, and our first to arrive. WHOA styling in person, and then you see the 29/40 mileage rating.

I was shocked to see one already.

Whoa, I'll check up here at the local dealer tomorrow for one of those. It's funny, I can see the dealer prep kids searching for a decent spot to stick your dealer logo on that swoopy tail end. Is there room in the license plate cove to stick it so it's flat? It doesn't look too good where it's at.

The logo...still baffles me as to where they do try to force them on & it's always a different spot on the same cars. In the license plate cove would probably work.

Intriguing new small car, for sure. The looks, mileage, price & package may be hard to beat, if marketed well.

Some new shots of the '11 Elantra in its own thread...

Also this "chromie chrome chromie chrome" '07 Avalanche trade-in. Local truck, and a rare 6.0L at that. But wow did he like gluing every type of Autozone chrome giblet on it he could find...even covering the headlights.

With those wheel covers, he must be on his way to Barrett-Jackson. That "vehicle" is perfectly accessorized. And I see a Bonneville 3 cars up.
