My aunt sais here 2004 Chevrolet Impala speedometer is not working? is this her cars problem or is it some sort of recall problem? i couldnt find if there was a recall or not on google do any of you know?

What exactly does "not working" mean? Giving wrong readings or just not working at all?

Is it still under warranty? This doesn't seem like a common problem, even though I don't know a lot of background on Impalas. They're generally pretty problem-free.

im not sure my aunt just said that its not working, thats all my aunt was wondering wether or not it was a comoon problem and mgiht ever be come a recall.

well i know with the new ones, you can change the computer to go in Kph instead of Mph, but its still on the same face... and it can get kinda confusing if it gets switched on you...

Why is it with domestic vehicles that owners automatically assume that if they have any kind of problem with their new vehicle that is is probably part of a recall or "problem?"

Parts break. If a manufacturer makes 100,000 of anything, something will fall off or not work, mathematics dictates that.

A 2004 Impala should still be under warranty. Get the speedometer fixed under warranty, that's what it is for.

And here's hoping she doesn't have any other issues with her car!

same thing happened in my dad's 04 silverado....the needle just fell back to zero while we were headed home one night. He took it to the dealer and they fixed it....it was something in the computer, id say just have her take it to the dealer and see what they say.

I do not know about you but I would guess that is a general assessment of new car buyers, foreign or domestic.

she did not automatically assume it was a recall problem, thats why i came to ask in the chevrolet cars forum to see if it was a recall problem...."duh"

My mistake: you automatically assumed that it was a "problem" and not just normal chance that the item was defective.

I was just making a general observation, don't get testy. Your aunt's honor is still intact.
