Scion Announces Pricing For tC Release Series 2.0

To Be Displayed At The 2006 New York International Auto Show

03/22/2006 Torrance, CA

March 20, 2006 -Torrance, CA - Scion, of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., announced today that the second limited-production Scion for 2006, the tC Release Series 2.0 (tC R.S. 2.0), hits dealer showrooms beginning in mid-April.

The 2006 tC Release Series 2.0 will come in a brilliant Blue Blitz Mica. This limited edition tC features a stainless steel mesh upper and lower front grille and 17-inch alloy wheels that come with a satin metallic finish. The tC's only factory option, front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags, is standard equipment on the R.S. 2.0.

Inside, the tC's front and rear seats are trimmed with black Alcantara®, a suede-like material that provides passengers better friction grip and is more commonly found in luxury or performance vehicles and on aftermarket racing seats. The tC R.S. 2.0 comes standard with a Pioneer Premium AM/FM/CD audio system with iPod connectivity and color-changing LED display.

A Pioneer six-inch subwoofer with 35-watt maximum power complements the upgraded head unit and is tuned specifically for the tC. This compact subwoofer is mounted in the under-floor storage area, keeping it out of sight and leaving the cargo floor clear. This tC also is equipped with XM Satellite Radio and comes with a paid three-month subscription, wherever XM service is available. An individually numbered brushed stainless steel badge completes the uniqueness of this vehicle.

Only 2,600 units of the tC Release Series 2.0 will be built. The tC Release Series 2.0 model will carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,960 over the base price of the tC. The base MSRP for the tC starts at $16,300.

A 2006 tC Release Series 2.0 will be on display in the Scion booth at the New York International Auto Show.

The color is prety nice and the car seems extremely well equipped, but I'd still rather get a stripped, base Mini (or stretch the budget for a base Cooper S or well equipped base model) or get an RSX, they're getting pretty old, lease deals on them seem to be really good (209/month-36 months-$1500 down) lately.

Looks good, but not worth the premium. The regular tC is a downright steal at $16,300... it's a very substantial and well-equipped car, despite being decidedly unsporty.

I love the limited addition concept, continues to boost a cult limited edition feel for the car. Scion has started to do what Satrun had for GM with a family, club feel for it's owners.

With the Alcantara, the car is worth the price. Pretty color too.

the tc is a decent value but another 2 grand on top is starting to put it under scrutiny.

it least it has some real horsepower compared to things like the FIT but if i recall, no one wants horsepower anyways.

if it weren't so chunky looking, I'd consider it.

Compared to previous Scion 'Releases' that amounted to cheesy apperance packages, this seems to be worth the money in terms of options given.

How much of that goes to the longer badge? tC R.S. 2.0

And isn't it confusing to put 2.0 on the decklid when the car has a 2.4?

Did you read the entire press release or just about the new badge? It is not confusing if you keep up with the Scion special editions. I believe the xA has 1, the xB has 2 and now the tC has 2.

So Toyota really thinks they are Microsoft... Putting version numbers??

Reminds me of an old joke about GM and Microsoft.

Does this thing crash a few times a day??
