March 23, 200619 yr Seeing so many people are doing it on the G6 forums, I'm tempted to do that as well. Like the ones on the Roush concept. But problem is... does that make me a rice-boy??
March 23, 200619 yr I think you really have to have the right colour car to get away with painted headlights. I'm not sure grey is the right colour.
March 23, 200619 yr Maybe you could get somebody to chop the headlights from the Roush onto your car, and see how it would look first...
March 23, 200619 yr No need to chop... Headlights like the Roush Concept would look good on even the cheapest looking G6s... Don't be crazy. Not even close to rice. You're insane, you know that? Rice smice... I can show you some freakin' rice.
March 23, 200619 yr Author Maybe you could get somebody to chop the headlights from the Roush onto your car, and see how it would look first... They're the same headlights, except that the outer chrome ring is painted black.
March 23, 200619 yr Author Here's what it looks like: and for comparison: Edited March 23, 200619 yr by ToniCipriani
March 23, 200619 yr Author But that's the chrome trim... I've seen a full chrome trim on eBay, but it makes it look like an Accord...
March 23, 200619 yr Do it. Yesterday. Those awful chrome headlights are one of the G6's weakest styling points. Off you go!
March 23, 200619 yr Not ricey at all. Color-keying them? That's ricey. This makes it fall in line with other Pontiacs and, upon reviewing these pictures, I don't know why GM didn't do this in the first place, at least with the GT/GTP trims. A few bucks to really set it apart is worth it for you or the General...

March 24, 200619 yr Seeing so many people are doing it on the G6 forums, I'm tempted to do that as well. Like the ones on the Roush concept. But problem is... does that make me a rice-boy?? first- no it's not rice. rice means you're trying to make your car look fast. second- no. it doesn't look great from your example below. There are bunch of mods I can do to the sol's lights, but personally I think it looks kinda cheesy, esp when you just spray paint the plastic. Angel eyes look cool though, changing the actual bulbs looks pretty good.

March 24, 200619 yr angel eyes can look good on some cars and yes a lot of time theyre jerry rigged but they work i like the painting it black but you also have a lot of chrome elsewhere so id make sure you dont make the headlights look like cheap plastic go with a glossy black or black chrome paint not a matte
March 24, 200619 yr I think the black housings would look hot... the next best thing you can do to the headlgihts, but then it wouldn't really be budget any more is a convert them to Projectors+HIDs. http://www.hidtech.com
March 24, 200619 yr Angel eyes is not about the bulb. It's merely a plastic ring with LEDs at the ends, in some cases an EL tube. i didnt say it was a bulb...but either way...spray paint looks like spray paint...(cheap)
March 26, 200619 yr I'm on the fence, it's not rice (your idea) but it's not that original either and all that work for just a touhc of individuality? Eh, depends if the stock setup is unapealing to you...
March 26, 200619 yr I dunno... in the pics shown, it just looks too obvious that the headlights weren't designed with black housings in mind.
March 26, 200619 yr Author If you look at the original concept, they weren't black, but a brushed silver:
March 26, 200619 yr oh wow... i definitely like the brushe silver better than the black... i ont know what it is but the black just looks really cheap to me... itd probably look better if the car was black as well... but yeah i definitely like the silver in the concept alot... if you coul figure out how to do that without makin it look cheap id say go for that
March 26, 200619 yr Author This should work... http://www.duplicolor.com/projects/howto_metalcast.html
March 26, 200619 yr i didnt say it was a bulb... Actually, genuine BMW angel eyes use Hella Celis technology and in the front, the rings are lit by bulbs. Aftermarket stuff is usually a LED type of application though. But AE's shouldn't be on anything but a BMW...They used to be unique to the e39's, now everyone and their brother has them available for their cars...
March 26, 200619 yr Great.. now I want to use that on my rims... I just don't to f@#k them up. As for the headlights, I'd say that'd would definatley add a nice twist from the blah looking chrome. I still think projector would complete the look even more, but then that won't be cheap. Maybe in time there will be some aftermarket headlgihts that resemble what the G6 concept had, the shape/size looks simluar if not identical from the concept to produciton.
March 26, 200619 yr OMG go for the brushed that looks hot and i garuntee noone will be doing it until they see you and prolly the few other trendsetters do it talk about individuality and stylish i love the brushed look
March 27, 200619 yr Hmmm, I don't think its the paint vs. chrome that's the problem. Why are these headlights so freakin huge to begin with? A much smaller headlight "capsule" (blacked-out or not) would do wonders for the looks of the car. The brushed silver looks best IMO.
March 27, 200619 yr This should work... http://www.duplicolor.com/projects/howto_metalcast.html Dude, I think I'm going to use some of those on my engine next month...
