So RAV4 is a Toyota Truck? I thought it was supposed to be a car based SUV?

It is, but if you were Toyota, wouldn't you want to hype up your new SUV which will make far more money than the Corolla that it's still based on?

After all - the addition of the V-6 makes it more masculine

GM considers the Equinox, Torrent, and VUE as trucks too. THey sure ain't going to call them cars.

Problem is, Toyota fanboys always considered the RAV4 to be Toyota's "pioneer in class", as it's the first car based SUV...

Perhaps Toyota has taken to calling the RAV-4 a truck to bump up their truck line's CAFE ratings, just like how Chrysler did with the PT Cruiser.

The RAV4 has ALWAYS been a truck, as are all SUVs. The PT Cruiser and Dodge Magnum are "trucks" but I'll question those. Other car-based trucks include the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner/Mazda Tribute, the Thetas (as mentioned above), Toyota Highlander, Lexus RX330/400h, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Murano, and every minivan on the market today.

Remember when GM had the Lumina APV and then the Venture with the Astro van in the Chevrolet Truck brochure?

The Magnum is a wagon...it's the coolest damn wagon out there, but it's a wagon. Although since it has a flat load floor it's techincally a truck...funny.

I'm with you...it's a wagon. But according to the government through its own loopholes, it's a truck. The PT Cruiser is a hatchback in my book. I'm kinda surprised that they couldn't find a way to make the PT Cruiser convertible fall into some truck category, but it's technically a "car."

The Tundra, Tacoma, Highlander, Rav4, 4Runner, and Sienna are all considered part of the "Toyota Truck" lineup...

GM does that too though... they put the Equinox in the "Chevy Trucks" lineup.

Honda is the worst IMO... their "Honda Truck" lineup is the Pilot, Ridgeline, Element, CR-V, and Odyssey... There is not 1 real truck in that list.
