March 29, 200619 yr Beginning Friday, April 7 (continuing April 14, 21 and 28), I'm hosting a radio show 8p-11p central time, with 8-8:05, 9-9:05 and 10-10:05 being newscasts. I signed a contract (I'm paying for the airtime) with the local radio station (WRMN 1410 AM) to host "CD Showcase", something I've been wanting to do ever since I graduated college. If it "takes off", I may be able to get advertisers to offset some of the costs ... and continue doing the show throughout the year. We'll see . If you're not in the NE IL area, you can listen online: www.wrmn1410.com click on "warp radio" Here are a few of the promos/segues I recorded for the show.... ("The Song Remembers When" by Trisha Yearwood in the background) ... Tired of hearing the same new songs with a few "oldies" thrown in whenever a station feels like it? Listen to CD Showcase, with your host Cort Stevens, 8-11 every Friday night in April. You'll hear a wide variety of hits -- country & otherwise, old & not-so-old -- because a song remembers when, on CD Showcase. ("Dive" by Stephen Curtis Chapman in the background) ... Diving into more of your favorite hits -- country & otherwise -- because a song remembers when on CD Showcase, with your host, Cort Stevens. ("Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" by George Jones in the background) ... Cort Stevens may not be able to fill the shoes of those big name commercial radio stations, but he offers a wide variety of forgotten favorites for your listening pleasure right here on CD Showcase. ("Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence in the background) ... Bringing to life more of your forgotten favorites -- CD Showcase with your host Cort Stevens. ("Why Haven't I Heard From You?" By Reba McEntire in the background) ... Are you enjoying CD Showcase? Perhaps you have a question, comment, suggestion, or are interested in sponsoring the show.... Cort Stevens wants to hear from you. Send him an Email to [email protected]. Meanwhile, enjoy more of your favorites right now on CD Showcase, only on the home of the Radio Shopping Show, WRMN 1410 AM Elgin. Can ya tell I'm excited about this? March 29, 200619 yr Sounds like a great opportunity. So you're going to be a disc jockey, do interviews...?
March 30, 200619 yr Author *nods* Thank you all! I don't think I captured my full excitement for this in the intial post . Variance ... nope, no interviews ... all music! And, z28 ... best reply I've seen ... he he he .
March 30, 200619 yr Remember...its not 'WRMN1410' its 'WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMN 1410 on your AM dial!'
March 31, 200619 yr AM radio! If I drive to your neck of the woods I could hear it on my AM radio-only 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme four door! Road trip!!
March 31, 200619 yr Author Fly, He he he...I'll have to remember that . XP, Absolutely road trip here!!! Would be cool! My '76 MC, like your '77 Olds, has an AM-only radio. I keep meaning to replace it, though ... he he he. Heh...and that reminds me of that GM "AM Radio" commercial ... and, thus, of that song ... he he he
March 31, 200619 yr I could drive my '76 1/2-ton up there, its still got the original AM unit in there with a single speaker (I've got a modern am/fm/cd head unit in the center console, but I do like the AM radio too.
March 31, 200619 yr Author Come on up, 76ChevyTrucker! And, as for that extra unit, I've been thinking of leaving the original AM radio in my '76 ... and getting an FM/AM radio unit to put elsewhere, but I'm not sure where that'd work. It would fit in the glove compartment, but I use that . He he he
March 31, 200619 yr glove box for a stereo hiding hole.....feasible, but like you said, you'd lose your space. See with mine, I built a center console to go in there, and I wanted to keep the orignal AM unit since it still worked just fine, but at the same time be able to crank out the tunes with a modern unit too.
April 1, 200619 yr Author 76ChevyTrucker, My AM radio still works ... sometimes. So, I want to replace it, but keep it for "safekeeping". A console wouldn't look good in the MC, I don't think.... And, NOS ... thank you!
April 6, 200619 yr Author It's been 10 years since I last hosted a radio show, having hosted "The Saturday Evening Mostly Country Music Show" for 3 years on my college's radio station, WBKE, 89.5 FM, N Manchester IN, ending that show in May 1996, right before I graduated. Since then, I've had a lot of different experiences, met a lot of people, and added heavily to my musical collection. So, now, I'm very excited about hosting "CD Showcase" on Elgin IL's WRMN 1410 AM ... perhaps even more excited than I am about getting my older 4 Chevrolet Monte Carlos out for this year in a few weeks. What will hear if you tune in? Some great artists ... and history of some of the songs/artists. So, if you're so inclined, please mark your calendar for this Friday, April 7, as well as April 14, April 21 and April 28 and join me! Remember, the show is 8p-11p Central time, which translates to 9p-midnight Eastern, 7p-10p Mountain and 6p-9p Pacific. If you can't get WRMN on your AM dial, fire up the web ... and go to http://www.wrmn1410.com ... and click on "Warp Radio" on the list to the left. Keep in mind that the first five minutes of every hour is for USA Network news. If you plan to record the show and are willing to share a copy with me and/or others, please Email me at [email protected]. Still wondering what to expect?
