C-5 crashes near Dover AFB

Featured Replies

It crashed into a field and broke into three pieces. Weird to see such a massive aircraft lying on the ground. No fire, 17 people on board, some injuries.

Oops....my first thought was a C5 Corvette when I saw the title.

Broke into 3 peices... well okay, sounds weird... 17 people wooo! no wonder it crashed...

ohh, a plane... i see :duh:

yea me too... lol, i was thinking... well i'm sure C5's crash all the time, lets go see whats so special about this corvette... woo! 17 passengers... stretched limo? lol

well its rare for a military plane to crash at all. plus those have back ups for backups. and you need to be well educated and have expirence to fly that thing.

Actually, from talking to a C5 pilot, its not THAT hard to fly one, you just have to remember one thing and one thing only.....it doesn't respond on a dime.

Any details? Clearly it didn't fall out of the sky, it looks like it skidded off the runway. Thankfully nobody was killed. :)

I too thought Corvette at first... but the AFB tipped me off to the plane not the car. :P

But I thought a crashed plane looks like this: <_<

It did not crash on takeoff. The plane took off from Dover and developed engine trouble, they turned around to go back and crashed short of the runway in a field. Last I heard, all 17 were injured but only 3 remain hospitalized. The plane had a full load of fuel at the time as it was headed for Spain. No fire or explosion due to serious fire-supression systems in the fuel tanks(wings).

Damn, 68, I knew what that pic was before I even scrolled down. Strange how a hole in the ground could look so familiar. :(

I believe that flight 93 nosedived, whereas the C5 bumped, bounced and skidded to a halt.

I was more eleuding to a conspiracy... nothing like Michal Moore

tries to cook up but long these lines:
