April 6, 200619 yr Anyone know what the difference between the standard traction control and stabilitrack is? This is what the cadillac web site says about the standard traction control "CTS comes standard with a sophisticated traction control system. It detects when a wheel is losing traction and applies a precise amount of brake pressure to the wheel until traction is regained. If slippage continues, engine speed is slowed until traction is regained." Is this the first gen stabilitrack? It sounds as if when skidding, it will apply the brake of one wheel, or more if needed. Anyone know about this?
April 6, 200619 yr Here are excerpts from my 2005 CTS Owner Manual. Traction control is not a first gen Stabilitrak. They are two separate systems that operate independently or could potentially work together. For 2005, Stabilitrak came on the sport package. I don't know how it is packaged for 2006/2007. I'm glad I have it, because it straightens my car out quickly if I am sliding in the winter. Stabilitrak® System Your vehicle may be equipped with a vehicle stability enhancement system called Stabilitrak®. It is an advanced computer controlled system that assists you with directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions. Stabilitrak® activates when the computer senses a discrepancy between your intended path and the direction the vehicle is actually traveling. Stabilitrak® selectively applies braking pressure at any one of the vehicle’s brakes to help steer the vehicle in the direction which you are steering. Traction Control System (TCS) Your vehicle has a traction control system that limits wheel spin. This is especially useful in slippery road conditions. The system operates only if it senses that one or both of the rear wheels are spinning or beginning to lose traction. When this happens, the system brakes the spinning wheel(s) and/or reduces engine power to limit wheel spin.

But the 06 caddy seems to be a little more sophisticated then just slowing down the spinning wheel and limit engine power, don't you think?
