Okay, so I haven't checked on my favorite '87 Pontiac Grand Prix LE since the fall (maybe October?). And the dealership it is at - remember, this car is the dealer owner's personal car - lost both its franchises (Pontiac in '09 and Cadillac just recently in late 2010 or very early 2011). The building is now marked as an AC Delco repair facility though it looks emptier than before. I've been curious if his collection of cars was still in existence, namely my favorite Pontiac.

So Friday night on the way home I stopped by to do a quick check. I was disappointed to see it missing from its parking spot inside the garage; however, I know the owner takes it out on nice weather days and Friday was definitely a nice day here in NJ. On the plus side, his "Royal Knight" late '70s El Camino was still there, along with his early '80s Buick Regal, his late '80s Bonneville, an under-the-car cover lifted & chromed pickup (curious to find out what this is), and something new - a mid '80s Trans Am (maroon over silver). I decided to see if there was anything parked in the shop area and voila! - there was the '87 GP getting some spring maintenance done. This was the first time I saw the car completely uncovered, and was surpirsed to see it had mid-'80s T/A rims on it (not how I saw almost two years ago).

Anyway, returned Saturday afternoon and got these shots (not great, from my droid phone):

I've really got to find the money to buy this car :)

T/A rims look pretty good on it. I see splitters there; too bad not much can be done to the 305 underhood.

ocnblu - Thank you for your well wishes, and yes this car is quite the gem (two years ago it was at 97 or 99k in mileage, garage kept & well maintenanced, and has nver seen rain or snow). Unfortunately to make this dream come true requires money, and if I wasn't lazy (well, between the one & a half jobs, home upkeep, and most importantly the kiddies), I'd go through the many boxes of "toys" sitting in my basement and organize them for sale. The sell them for the cash :P This is defintely one way for me to get the money needed. But your right in one thing - wishing leads to determination, and that I have plenty of :)

balthazar - I'm not worried about the 305ci/5.0L V8, it will move the car for what I need it to do (boulevard cruiser). Rememeber, the one I have fond memories of, my mom's '83 GP LJ, had the 231ci/3.8L V6 and I LOVED that car :lol: The T/A rims are nice, but if I had it the stock Pontiac mags would have to be put back on there. Thankfully the owner appreciated these cars for what they were and never molested the car too much - besides the T/A rims (new feature to me), he added the Brougham models' door panels (which I do like), the splitter exhaust, and a '90s GM CD Player/Radio (but he has the original cassette/radio that came with the car).

Crate motor from Gm will make things interesting in a hurry....go get things in a hurry and make things interesting....neenerneener.gif

A 350 swap is simple and fairly cheap. The LeSabre got its 350 for under $500, but I did a good deal of the work myself and only got to enjoy it for a few weeks before putting a worn 307 back in and C4Cing it and getting most of what I put into the motor back.

Cost considerations, GM crates aren't cheap

No...but a car that clean...I'd dump three grand to have a fresh motor.

Only get so many chances in life to own a cool car...

Oh...and in the same vein....saw an equally clean Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe in front of one of those places here in Columbus that makes Donkmobiles...

Guess we (sadly ) know what's going to happen to THAT car.
